How do you dispose your Credit Card Bills?

Having Credit Cards is as common as having televisions at home and as expected we receive Statements of Account every month. Over time our bills pile up and like my colleagues at work we are now pressed with the same dilemma- how do we dispose of this old credit card bills? For security purposes, they say it is not wise to simply throw our credit card bills in our garbage bags as they contain details of our account and it might end up in the wrong hands (i read that while surfing the internet hehehe)... Now i accumulated six years worth of credit card bills from three credit card companies plus 8 years worth of bills from my mobile phones company. That's a lot of garbage and paper hehehe. We ended up buying a mini paper shredder and we got busy shredding those bills. At least they can be recycled and the risk of having them read or used by folks with "bad intentions" are now eliminated. The good thing is, one of our co worker is collecting the shredded paper for her artwork. :D I am curious about other folks out there who also have credit cards or postpaid mobile phone subscriptions. How do they get rid of their bills. After paying them, i used to keep them because there might be some need of it in the future. But I guess bills more than 3 years old should not be stored. They just add clutter and they consume space. LOL! How about you guys? Do you simply throw your bills? Please feel free to share your experience on this matter. Have a good day and happy mylotting!

You might want to try the following: 1. Get a paper shredder that you can shred it. 2. Buy a Kespon stamp which will obsfucate any part of the bill which you deem as important. Then you have put the paper out for recycling. The more "ungreen" means would be to burn it. But I am sure you are more conscious of saving the world, aren't you?

I have signed up to the majority of my creditors to be paperless. So I get a pdf file of most of my monthly statements. I then save them on a pen drive for later in the event I had to refer back to them. Any that I get via paper I normally scan and save to my pen drive also. I save my bills by year and then sorted by month.

I don't have a credit card now thankfully hence no bills! Having said that I used to have printed bank statements posted to me and as there was talk of security lapses and stealing of private information by thieves and scammers and so forth I decided to request that all my statements become available online and this is what I do now with all my statements and bills, I think this is the safest way to go. I think in your case it's definitely wise to use a shredder, I used to use one myself but I no longer have need of it. It's just a whole of of paperwork and it can pile up and create a real mess. I think if you can do things online now which includes paying bills and online statements then this is the obvious way to go! Life is so much more convenient now as a result of technology! Andrew
