Everybody is now familiar with the term ‘Information Technology’ or in short, IT. Crores of rupees are being invested in IT sector and thousands of youths are working here. Is there anybody who can explain me what is the function of the IT sector and what a worker here has to do?

The IT sector is very vast, it includes everything information and technology. It could range from a computer and the information you get from a computer to sim cards on your smart phone. Pick a category within technology, any one.

From what I understand an IT's job is two fold at the core. They are trained to work with computers first and foremost. They know everything about the computer and how to get in there and fix something if it goes wrong. Some mostly work on the programing side of things others actually focus more on the guts of the computer. But the other part of the job is information. These people are the ones that also know how to organize information on the computer. Put it into files and best find where everything fits.
My brother works in IT as more of a guts of the computer kind of guy for schools and such. He has to hook them up and then make sure all the information is easily accessible by any student hoping to hop on.

I think it is referring to the computer field, like for the armed forces, transport and things like that. I have seen many commercials where I am from for people who are wanting to get into that field and it is working with electronic systems. I am not sure of the specifics but I think it is somewhat like a computer tech or something but just a bit more advanced. Non the less i think it is somewhere along those lines. I hope this helps out a bit and I hear it is a very lucrative field to get into if you choose to.
