Does Anyone Else Have Problems RECEIVING Mail From the Postman/Woman?

Mum is most upset. The card Dad posted (for me) on her behalf failed to arrive. If it doesn't come tomorrow (a day late) there isn't even an option to trace the mail because neither that or my brother's was sent Recorded Delivery, as it is a fortune to do so and I'd like to think that Royal Mail staff are honest. My "ex" was a postman though and he wasn't!!
I can't help thinking about that series called "The Street" which featured a postman in one episode. What he was doing was rummaging through his mailbags and opening any coloured envelopes as there was more chance of a birthday card being included in them along with some money...which is what he pocketed of course.
Fortunately, Mum hasn't sent money with the card. In fact, she opened my brother's envelope and has taken the money out of there as she didn't want to post it like that..glad she didn't now. She's keeping hold of it until I'm down there at Easter. My Dad posted both cards early yesterday and I know for a fact it's the main post box in Layton. There are lots of collections throughout the day, the last is around 6.45pm the same day..so they really have no excuses for First Class mail not to arrive the following day.
Have I got a case for complaint here or what? It's not the first time cards haven't arrived from Blackpool to Carlisle. However, when I sent Dad a card for his birthday it arrived on time, no problems at all. Carlisle's sorting depot is up in Dumfries. My suspicion is they have someone (either) in the depot rummaging through mail that looks like birthday cards OR my own postwoman is doing it instead. Mum does know our postcode as I know problems arise if they aren't written down properly. A pair of shoes arrived here the other day but that was via a courier, not Royal Mail.
I hate to think negatively of people but it does make me wonder. Even if the cards arrive tomorrow they're too late.

Postal delays can be frustrating when you are anticipating something good. I am sure you will get you card.
I am a little surprised at the NB but then, you know we all love you so our best wishes will always be there for you. Enjoy yourself and have a big blast.

It's just that discussions about "you know what" tend to get deleted which is why I issued that NB. I could've worded it better, I agree but it's done now.
As for the cards..well, one of them (my brother's) has arrived but Mum's hasn't and Dad posted them both at the same time.
Weird eh?

They say God works in mysterious ways. I think this is more applicable to the Postal departments all over the world.

Our mail is always getting lost or delivered to the wrong address. I have recently found out that sometimes the reason for the lost mail, is it may get damaged in the sorting machine. If that happens, the mail is pulled and put in a box to be hand sorted. We have had mail show up months late, just like another person had mentioned and it arrived in another envelope that was marked about the damage. I have filed complaints, but it never seems to do any good. Our carrier is so lazy, he will not even deliver packages to our door, he leaves us a notice in the box saying we have to go to the office to collect. Even though I was home all day.

That's hugely annoying, I must say. I did send my Dad a card for his 70th 4 years ago and it didn't get there because it had a badge on the front, therefore catching in the machine at the depot. When that happens I can understand it when a card doesn't reach its destination but I've received a card off my brother today but not my Mum's and Dad posted them both at the same time!!

Well, I know that from time to time things like this can happen and it does make you wonder. Since moving here to our house over a yr, and a half ago there is mail quite often we have been told we should have received that never seems to arrive, and I have heard the same complaint from some of my neighbors as well. It does make you wonder what is really going on and what happens to some of the mail that never seems to arrive or get returned to the sender. Hopefully the mail just is not arriving there yet, and will arrive soon... And hope you have a wonderful BDAY.

Thank you.
We have no idea what happens to "lost" mail in this country. It probably goes to all the staff!

Mailman.. grrr! Do you know that I live 2 blocks from our post-office and it can be 7pm at night before our mailman arrives. We get the neighbors mail and not ours but like GG said above the bills make it just fine, lol..
Well you enjoy your day today, tomorrow, next year and every day. LOL

Haha! Thanks for that my friend. It seems the postal service around the world ain't that great and, strangely, it doesn't make me feel any better!

Lots of things can happen to something that is mailed. I once got a double bill from the cable company, but my records showed that I had mailed the check. Days later, we found it laying in the grass beside the steps. Either the wind blew it out of the mailbox, or the postman dropped it, so it never got mailed.
Another time, I got a Christmas card in April that had been mailed the past December. It had apparently been caught in a mail sorter somewhere and finally camo out. Things get lost...they get wet...addresses are unreadable, or they get delivered to the wrong address. I guess its just a chance we take.

Perhaps my brain is working overtime automatically thinking the worsed i.e. someone has opened the two envelopes (well, 3 if you count the one at Christmas) looking for non-existent money. Why people send money in the post is beyond me. I'd never do it!

The postmen in my vicinity often deliver mails to the wrong address as the road names are almost the same, only difference is the /A, /B etc for the road...
Hopefully your card isn't sent to the wrong address or the one who receives it will send it to your house. Good luck!

Yes, we have had mail delivered here because the postcode had an L at the beginning instead of a C so it should've gone to Lancaster. We posted it on and I made sure the L could be read properly. I once worked somewhere and all envelopes had to have typed labels on them so the machines at RM could read them properly!
The place is going backwards not forwards with its technology, in my opinion.

Even for close mail, I always allow at least three days. The only thing that would ever come quickly would be the bills.
