I have applied to a lot of jobs that I know I would be able to do quite well, but I wasn't hired for my lack of experience. The thing that has always bugged me about that is, how do you get any experience if no one is willing to give you the first shot? It seems like a catch-22 to me. You need experience to get the job, but you don't get the experience because you haven't been able to get hired because you don't have any experience! Is there a way to get around this? Or am I just stuck inside this vicious cycle?

It depends on the position you're applying for. Usually, companies still accept fresh graduates but of course you need to prove that you're the best candidate by showing them your grades or achievements from school. You can also attend trainings or seminars that will serve as a decoration for your resume.

That is why a good educational background is essential in a resume. No company will take the risk of hiring someone who has no good school record. If the grades are sterling, the company pursues you. Then you get the experience. Otherwise, the options are waiting at the table jobs, a teller, a clerk at the office, a cashier... many young grads begin with these and perform well. I see some who deliver promos and work their way up. So, start small...
