Not writing to gloat at all by the way. I wanted to share with you all that I am 100% out of credit card debt as of yesterday!! I started with the credit cards 2 years ago (as soon as I turned 18) and somehow they got out of control - I was in a total of like $3,000 in debt... Finally I started working more hours and switched jobs and FINALLY I am out of debt - which was a big New Years resolution for me.. It feels good to have actually accomplished one of my new years goals!! How about you?? How are you doing on yours, and have you recently gotten out of debt? (It really does feel like a huge weight has been lifted..And now I'm going to have more money in my pocket to put elsewhere!) I still have an overdue tuition bill of about $2,000 that needs to get taken care of ASAP, but hey, baby steps.. I thought I would share that with y ou because it really did make my day. Have you gotten out of debt? Or had any progress on any of your New Years goals?

Congratulations. Debt is a pain in the butt. I still have a bunch but it's student loan debt and my rate is under 2.5% so it isn't too bad. Still can't wait to be out from under that. I can imagine how good it feels to have paid off some cards. Great job, and try not to spend more than you can afford.

I think I've learned my lesson... HOPEFULLY! Congrats on your own success in the debt-area. 2.5% interest is not bad AT ALL! Mine were up in the 20%'s..that's probably why it was so hard to pay em off.

That is great that you are out of debt. I am working hard towards getting out of debt myself. I have a credit card that has a high amount on it that I am trying hard to pay off. I also have two other credits on my credit report that I want to pay off so I can increase my credit score. It is great that you have been able to find work and get a good wage. I am not working at all (except for a few things I do online) and my husband is working parttime. I wish you the best of luck.

Hi Maezee, fortunately you just have $3000 in debt to start with. Some people manage to roll over the credit card debt until they are hopelessly in debt. I have seen some with more than $50,000 in credit card debt. They do not know how they manage to incur so much debt. The worst is that they always think they can use the bonus to pay off the credit card debt. Of course they never did.

Yayyy for you maezee! We've interacted a few times here on myLot, and I know your story about the credit card debt. And your struggles of trying to manage it down, so you could move on to other things that you wanted to do in your life. I'd say good for you. You are more disciplined than I am. I also had similar goals at the start of the year. Not completely get out of credit card debt, but I've set a target that I wanted to pay off. I seem to be going the other direction, while you've completed your goal, and it isn't April yet. Congratulations.

Congratulations! I managed to get the smallest of my credit cards paid off just this month. But, since the balance was a large amount, some sacrifices had to be made in order to achieve that. I was unable to pay all of my bills, including the mortgage. However, I will soon have money again and I will be able to get caught up with my past-due bills within the next three months.

Congrats to you! Better to gain control now before it got too out of hand. Been there and done that. Always feels good doing a little extra hard work to accomplish something that seems so impossible.

Good for you! I'm impressed that at your young age, you're on the ball on this. Unsecured debt is best taken care of fast (and even better not to get into in the first place). A lot of people don't usually think of letting debt rise until they find themselves in a very big hole - with the credit card company and/or collector agencies. At your age, I wasn't using credit cards, but eventually bit, to build credit rating. Paid them all responsibly every month, then found myself too sick to work, and became unable to pay for a long time. Learning my lesson now. One thing for sure, I'll never again let credit card companies/collectors get more of my business once I've crawled completely out of this pit.

That is wonderful. You are managing your financials very well. And, I can sense you have a very good foresight about your career and plans. That is a very good sign that you will be successful in your life, in the things enter to. Congratulations to you, and wish you a happy life !

Congratulations! It must be really nice to be able to say that you're out of credit card debt. I do have some debt. I have student loan debt, and some credit card debt. As I am a student, it's not always the easiest thing to do. But I do hope that, at some point in the near future, I will be able to be completely debt free.

Hi Mazee, That is so nice to know. I would be so happy if I'll be free from credit card debt too. I still have two credit card and I am praying that I could completely stay out of it and pay my balances because it is slowly taking over my financial life. But I know I could still fix it since it is just a small sum of money, less than a thousand dollars.

Hi mae, Living from day to day makes me debt-free. I only spend what I have for the moment and just wait for the next money to come along. In that way I can sleep soundly at night knowing that tomorrow, nobody shall bother me with the things I spent yesterday. It is great to be debt-free, you're right. One reason I do not have a credit card and I do not want one either.
