I love ice cream --- I love any flavor of ice cream. Now there is ice cream with "NSA" - no sugar added for those on-a-diet program. I tried testing it and of course, the taste is "less" sweet. I am bit skeptical if there is really "no sugar added". If they use artificial "sweeteners", are these safe to our health. If it's NSA,it should be less costly than the regular (or flavor of the month) ice cream. But it is more expensive. Because the artificial "sweeteners" cost more? Can anyone share if this costly ice cream with artificial sweeteners really worth buying and eating?

Hi. Margoe. Welcome to myLot! Well if you are interested into the taste of ice cream, then the no sugar added would be a great choice being that it has less sugar in it. Yes, I think that this ice cream is worth buying and eating.

Honestly it's that way for most items that have sugar substitutes or low fat labels on them. I don't understand why myself. I personally have tried a line called skinny cow and I found them disgusting! When I had to be on a low fat diet with my first pregnancy I noticed many of the no fat or reduced sugar items were quite costly by comparison to the "standard" line of items 50%+/- higher in some cases. I imagine the artificial sweetners & natural sugar are more costly than say using corn syrup as a sweetner.

Considering I eat ice cream once in a blue, blue moon, then that sugar free ice cream is worth buying. The sweeteners are really expensive.

Some of the no-sugar added ice cream is good. Breyers no sugar added ice cream tastes a lot like regular ice cream. I am a diabetic so to me the benefits of no sugar added ice cream is that I do not have to worry about a big sugar spike. I have seen in the stores that there is a Weight Watchers ice cream now. I have never tried that one, but on the box it looks good. Remember if the ice cream contains aspartame there are some people who should not eat it. People who have seizures should not eat it because there is a chemical in it that can trigger seizures. Too much aspartame or sweet n low can cause diarrhea in some people so that is to be cautioned against. The best tasting and safest no sugar ice cream contains splenda.

thanks. I didn't know about aspartame. Now, I need to check the contents of ice cream.
