Every second topic here is asking about how myLot works. It clearly shows that users do not read the guidelines and FAQs but sadly some Good Samaritans here provide with the clarifications knowing fully well that such topics will be deleted. This system is not the best as I can see as not only will the 'good Samaritans'(that includes me!!!) have the risk of their ratings going down those who have not done their homework by going through FAQs and Guidelines, will not learn. How about just reporting such topics?

hi allknowing I do think mylot really does need some sort of check before turning these newcomers loose to just make silly or rule
breaking discussions as they are too know it all to bother to read'
the information that would save their silly selves from getting discussions deleted and belly aching about mean mylot
for deleting their discussions. they will never acknowledge that they
did not know what they were doing, not at all.if we just keep spoon
feeding them the information they will keep coming back with the
same questions and we the good samaritans will keep losing our earnings. after awhile it get old doing this over and over for some of the same
usernames. why on earth cannot they just read the information?

Unless myLot make it so that new users cannot start new topics until they reach a certain number by first responding and commenting on discussions started by others, this will always be a problem. This was suggested ages ago and it was not implemented so we are stuck with coping as best we can.
I do not think that 'just reporting' is going to help the situation. If a new user asks a question and all they receive is a deleted post, then they will probably start another saying ' why was my post deleted?' and we are back to square one - even more deletions too
When a new user registers they receive a mail but the majority just ignore it and start posting, thinking that myLot is like all the other forums. I enjoy helping them to appreciate that it is not and often, after first responding to their question, I then report the post. I am not concerned with a deleted post if I can assist them in understanding what they are doing wrong and then, once they have understood, having many more interesting topics started by them to respond to
I feel that if the Lotters who have understood what needs to be done to get the best out of the time we spend here, help those who are new, then we can ALL benefit from it. I think you were not here when every time a user reached a certain number they posted about it and then there were endless deletions. Some of us went ona crusade to get it across that 'milestone' ropics leave nothing to discuss and now they we rarely see them.
I guess that it takes a high patience level to not get annoyed by them and I am lucky that I have not reached mine yet therefore I will continue to answer as many questions as I can

Today's world gives many the idea that everything is moving at a fast pace and because of thagt, those who register don't bother going and reading the mail that arrives. It appears to them to be filled with a load of links to read.
They don't even realise the importance and the knowledge that can be gained by reading the notifications that appear after deletions take place either.
The saying 'it pays to read' has never been more appropriate but sadly too many then think that they wil get paid if they read and don't realise that they will earn later by reading first
I am not an expert. I am stubborn and I just kept on experimenting until I got it right. Now all I would like is to see everyone getting it right too - hoping that myLot could meet the bill on payday

It never struck me the more deletions means the less pay outs for myLot!

I don't think they will post another topic asking why their topics/discussions were deleted as the notification that they receive informing them of the deletions gives the reasons why a deletion is made. We are all free to do what pleases us even at the cost of losing ratings or whatever but what I thought was rather than spoon feed why not let them go through the guidelines and FAQs. You are an expert here Diana and I am sure you have gone through all the guidelines and FAQs and I must confess I am nowhere near you. And there is one more exception. I would not want to lose by offering help!

I really don't know much about ratings. I used to let people know now I just ignore the topics like they are not even there.

There is advantage knowing what myLot is all about and it is all there in the guidelines and FAQs. myLot is for those who understand myLot and to understand myLot one needs to go through guidelines and FAQs. Why not be at ease rather than be in doubt. It is not easy. Despite being here for so long even the seniors are still learning.

Well I haven't looked at them since I started. I read advice people give to others and learn everyday. But I will have to do a refresher coarse and see what I don't know.

You may not have known this but whoever tries to help those who ask questions answers to which are already there in FAQs and other issues when that discussion gets deleted their responses also get deleted and their ratings go down too!
