We've all had a cough on and off since last month. Now hubby has it the worst as he is a smoker as well. But last night it was to the point he came home "sick" in the middle of his shift. Now he says he can feel it in his lungs a bit and he has this horrid cough you can hear from another room with the door closed. I'm trying to plead with him to get checked out. I mean really if it's that bad that you cannot stay at work then it's worth getting looked @ right? But he's stubborn when it comes to his health as many men are.
So I was searching online for some home/homeopathic remedies to ease things. He just kinda shook me off when I listed the things on one web site. Sometimes he will use something homeopathic so I thought it was worth a shot to look up. Anyone have any experience on what works to ease this?

My daughter currently has bronchitis Must br something going around. She tried some over the counter medications and some vapor rub but to no avail.
So after confirming with the doctor she is on a steroid because it worsened. My suggestion would be to visit the doctor because if it is in fact bronchitis it will worsen. Hope everyone feels better.

I would like him to go to the Dr but he will not go unless he is utterly sick to the point he's dying. To me if you have been feeling that way for some time and you are sent home from work then GO TO THE DR! It's only $8 to be seen w/ our insurance the worst they can tell you is it's pnumonia wich he had when he was a kid which is something that causes me more concern as they say you are more apt to get it again once you have it.

Men! Just tell hm that bronchitis leads to pneumonia and is his Insurance paid up to date. Or download a Will form and ask him to sign and say that you will get witnesses. On the other hand Vick's might help and a expectorant cough syrup. Good luck

Stubborn men! I'm a stubborn woman though, I go for the home stuff first before even thinking of a doctor. If it's bronchitis I'm not sure what to suggest to be honest. On websites for allergies and chest congestion it's always a hot shower, or you face in boiling water, some hot tea, or lemonade. Of course lots of water flushes the mucus out as well.
Bronchitis should really be checked out at a doctor's office though.

Hi. 3SnuggleBunnies. I think that a vapor rub or a medicine that will loosen up his chest may could help him, I also think that he should stop smoking, as this is making his coughing much worse. It would be best if he could consult with a doctor first so that he can be given the correct treatment and medication. I hope that you both will feel better really soon. Take care.

I had pneumonia in January and I really don't think that I've ever been so sick in my life. Well of course I got the antibiotics that they gave to me at the hospital, but that didn't really help with the cough at all. I found that taking long, hot showers helped the most to be able to get the junk out of my lungs. I believe that the reason for that is because of the moisture in the air when you take a hot shower. Also, make sure that he is drinking plenty of fluids so that his cough isn't dry. A less dry cough is a more productive cough and then get it out of your system.

I think it's a dry cough, but it's the kind you cough so hard you almost puke. I will look up what an anti tusive is and see what I can find. Thanks.

How horrible. I can give you some tips from SELF experience if that will help.
1. eliminate all milk products. Milk creates more congestion. Try drinking a COKE, there is something about drinking COKEs that break up the congestion, drink as much as possible. I learned this from the hospital when my daughter was admitted.
2. If you are using Vicks Vapo rub, try switching to menthol camphor. I know, it makes no sense, because both are menthol! BUT there is something in VICKS that cause a serious allergy reaction and will cause the VICKS to work just the opposite! I know this from personal experience! All I have to do is SMELL VICKS and I will get sick. But MENTHOL CAMPHOR is great!
thats the best I can do for you. Say a prayer!!!!!

I don't know what to suggest for this. I think that keeping well hydrated should help some, but as far as specific remedies, I have no idea. Do you try the lemon and honey that I sometimes hear about? It might help to have him breathe steam over a hot sink as well. They had me do that one time when I couldn't get to a doctor and it did help. I hope he will try something. Have a great weekend!!!

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain bronchitis needs antibiotics or some sort of prescription medicine. Tell him to quit being a stubborn jerk and go see the doc.. or better yet make the appointment for him and drive him there but don't tell him what he's doing until he's there! LOL

He need to see a Doctor, so called Bronchitus can cover much more serious conditions. Especially if this caused him to loose work time. Use the old guilt trick, tell him, he's responsible for supporting the family and if he doesn't take care of himself and gets sicker because he didn't take care of himself enough to see the Doc. who's going to take care of you all.
