I would have to say, I can do my reading better in a library better than in a coffee shop like starbucks. I might get easily distracted if I would sitting in a coffee shop. People comes in and out; the cashier selling coffee and refreshment. People chatting and laughing, all these ongoing activities might seriously distract my concentration. It would be different from library or at my own house. So, what will be your experience? Are you easily be distracted?

I never thought about it, but I guess a library is better, for the reason you stated. I get easily distracted if I am not really interested in what I am reading, if I like it, I can concentrate pretty well :)

I don't know, environment can be one of the important factor in distracting my reading experience here. I wish that I can be that interest for a book. I want to get deeper into it.

It's definitely better to read in a library. It's quiet there so you won't have many distractions than in Starbucks, where there could be many people talking or laughing. Although, I can read newspaper there. I like sipping their coffee while reading news there. It's a relaxing feeling.

I'd prefer reading in the library than in a coffee shop. I am easily distracted with people coming in and out of the shop and even hearing what coffee they're ordering. Not unless I get a good spot in a coffee shop that's usually in a corner or somewhere far from all the noise then maybe, I can do my reading. But the library is way better than the coffee shop since every body is supposed to be quiet inside the library. Silence helps me concentrate on my reading and I get to enjoy whatever I might be reading a lot more.

hi,
i never try to read in a coffee shop, but i think its more nice to read in library, because its more peaceful and silent, and you can concentrate o what you are reading for.because when i read in a coffee shop, it will only distract me because of many people you could see.

Ahh. Both the coffee shop and the library has its own advantages but I think I would prefer the library over the shop in any other day. First, I don't have to pay anything when I'm engaging the services of a library. I always feel obligated to order something when I'm in a cafe - whether something to drink or something to nibble on. Second, I'm more concentrated and feel at home in a library. The books make me comfortable and the serious environment forces me to read than to lounge (then probably sleep, if I'm not careful). Also, the quiet decorum in the library isn't distracting - it's helpful even when I really need to concentrate. The aroma could also distract my mind and my stomach. However, if I really had a choice in the matter, I would rather be in my house and in my bedroom. I have all the comforts of home and the I could not wish for anything more.

I often visit the library, but I don't usually read there. I prefer to borrow the books that I am interested in and read them somewhere else. I like to read in a coffeeshop, sometimes that kind of places are noisy and people around me are talking, but I am still able to concentrate on reading, and the background noise doesn't really bother me. I am also able to read on the train or on the bus or at the train station, maybe because I have become used to reading when there is noise around me.

I would say I'm quite the contrary. I believe that I read better when I'm in a coffee shop. I really don't know but for some reason, I can't concentrate when I'm in a library. My mind will be drifting out of what I'm reading. I think that the library is just too quite if that makes sense. I don't normally study or work better when my environment is too quite. I like a little bit of noise. I said a little bit and not anymore than that. I also like reading in an open space so a coffee shop will be a better place for me.

There's no better place for reading than at the confines of your own house. Or if you are still a student, you can do it at the library for better concentration.
At home you can do it in your bedroom , where you can lie down on the bed to read , or recline in a couch with your feet elevated on an ottoman.

I get my books from the library, but I don't read there. I do my best reading in bed, or when the weather is nice, outside in my backyard. I don't go to coffee shops.

Certainly a better read in the library...Cofee shop is a place to relax while enjoying a cup of coffee or any other dish, but could have, looking at light reading...maybe!

I prefer to read in a coffee shop because if I'm going to read in the library i might fall asleep. I like to read in a coffee shop because I'm the type of person who easily gets bored, reading in the library is good since you can really focus but I opt reading at the coffee shop so that I can glance at the people around me or enjoy watching people around me doing different stuff whenever I need to take a break from reading for a while.
