I was just considering the fact that maybe, the reason you sleep more as you age, is not tiredness, but unsatisfaction with life. I know i get tired when i'm unhappy, and teenagers who are depressed sleep alot too. If you have nothing to do, you'll sleep. I don't know how to continue this so add your thoughts.

Ah, there is nothing better than an hour nap on the couch during the day. Perhaps most people aren't getting the 8 hours they need every night in the first place. Now if you are bored, get out that piece of paper and start writing some ideas down. There is always someone in this world who needs your help.

Although depression can cause fatigue, depression doesn't mean that you are "unhappy" or "unsatisfied with life"; it is a mental illness.
Second, people do not sleep more as they age. Actually, babies sleep the most and the elderly sleep the least (on average). Teenagers need about 9 to 10 hours sleep and adults need about 7 or 8. The reason why teenagers need more is because their bodies are going through a lot of changes, including hormone levels.

It is true that when you are depressed you tend to want to sleep more because your not being active, and you may also not be eating sufficiently to keep you energized. Also when the weather is dreary people tend to want to sleep a little more, I am not sure why.

I noticed that people tend to sleep alot during rainy or snowy weather. I don't think eating has anything to do with it, but lack of energy is definitely an idea.

I think that you have a point. I too do this. Whenever I have nothing to do, I just close my eyes then dream of good things then eventually fall asleep. I think that there really is a point in life that makes you ask of what really is your role in this world. Sometimes this question lasts for a long time and so you are just left confused. People would say that only lazy people give is so much time sleeping, I say that I need to close my eyes and clear my thoughts to think. I see nothing wrong with it.

I sleep a lot and I'm a teenager but no, i'm not depressed. It's because I'm tired because I have to go to school. But no matter how tired I am, I try not sleeping in the day time. If I do, my sleeping patter is going to flip which I don't want. But yeah if your life is busy, you don't wanna sleep much.
