Geraldine Ferraro, who became the first female Vice Presidential candidate on a major U.S. party ticket in 1984, died Saturday in Boston, MA. She had been battling Blood Cancer. Mrs Ferraro ran with Walter Mondale against Ronald Reagan & George H.W. Bush & lost by a huge landslide!!! She appeared to be a strong woman without coming across as being particularly bittchy!!! She was the first female politician I can remember admiring!!! It seems amazing to me that is now 37 years later & we still haven't found a woman to elect!!! What, if any, memories do you have of Geraldine Ferraro???

I don't think you are "required" to agree with someone in order to admire the strengths that they possess!!! Women were just coming into their own when Ferraro stood up to the good ol' boy system in DC & said "here I am!!!" & they attacked her with a vengeance. I must admit that I didn't vote for her that year as I vote for what I believe in & not the person claiming to deliver what I believe in!!! I felt Mondale chose her simply because he knew he couldn't beat Reagan on his on & thought the female population was dumb enough to blindly follow a female candidate & put him in on "her coattails". It backfired!!!!

You are correct Lambikins!!! As I have gotten older. my math skills have gone to hell!!!
Anyway, whether it be 37 or 27, it has been waaay too long!!!
Geraldine Ferraro was crucified by the media!!! Every time her husband farted, the press was standing there to announce why that meant we shouldn't vote for her. Compared to the treatment Ferraro received, the press has embraced Palin!!!

did you watch the debates? palin was criticized for every move she made. even though she was the only one on the two tickets who had exectutive experience.
