The Wrong Day Care

When it came time to put my son in day care I didn't thank much about it. I never thought anything bad would ever come from it. My wife and I did not take the time to research the day care she was referred to by a co-worker. That lack of knowledge would come back to haunt my son and I. The care giver was a young lady who opened a day care service out of her home.
The first few weeks my wife would take him to day care while I was working out of town. He loved it, he would wake up in the morning wanting to go to "school" as he called it. He would bring home little activities that he had done that day, and he would put them on the refrigerater for me to see when I came home. The lady watching him started telling my wife that I wasn't paying her; when I would pay her a month in advance before I would leave town. This didn't go over well with her and things get a little heated between them. The lady would never disrespect me, but would get very rude with my wife.
I resolved that situation and planed on moving him to another day care, but all the ones I wanted to move him to wear all full. During the same period my son started acting strange. He would cry when either one of us would drop him off and when we would pick him up. I started asking around to the other parents and found out from another child that went to day care there that the lady and husband were leaving the children in the care of their son who was only fifteen.
My son came home with a bruise on his back on day and I was concerned! I was in the middle of descussing the issue with a friend of my family that works for the child protective service when my wife told me about the bruise. My friend told me she would start an investigation the following morning. After two weeks of interviewing the parents and children, and investigating all aspects of the care givers life she had discovered that the lady was letting her husband give the kids "baths" and touching the inappropriately. Along with, leaving the children in a little room all day with cartoons playing instead of letting them play. If you of the kids would get into something she would curse and scream at them.
All the parents pressed charges and she lost her license, both of the had to face jail time. So, to all parents out the that have no choice about having to putting their children into daycare. Please take the time to research the day care and even ask for other parents numbers to contact them and get their thoughts about the service.
