I have spent some 40 years in the field of education, both as a teacher, and, unfortunately, as a parent. Our children are being subjected to little of worth in our public schools, and are, in fact in danger in every possible way. Only just now in WI and on youtube are we seeing "teachers" show their true colors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdqQTlQhn5A (veritas visuals) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piPkgAUoOW (The Foundry Blog) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Lx79V2ns84 (Bob Chanin NEA union lawyer) That's just the tip of the iceberg. In CA the teachers' union is the second strongest in the state and they hold our children and our taxes hostage to their greed, incompetence, complete disregard and disrespect for the children they maliciously indoctrinate, mistreat and misuse. I have stories that would curl one's hair, and yet, they continue to get away with their machinations at the expense of our innocent children. To say that they are "dumbed- down" is an understatement as our schools are an academic wasteland and a moral sewer. The unions make sure that that the "rif-raf" we call "teachers" stay in the classroom, even though incompetent and uncaring. Granted, there is the same "bell-shaped" curve in the teaching "profession" as in any other, but the consequences to our children are far more dangerous. There may be a few caring persons at one end of the curve and a few actual, dangerous criminals and pedophiles at the other, but the vast majority are basically undereducated, incompetent academically and otherwise, and just plain greedy and certainly not averse to mob rule and choking the life out of us through gain by greed and hostage taking of our children. When you turn your children over to the public school system of "education" you are turning them over to a government agency whose agenda is, indeed, to take over the minds and morality of innocent children, for their own political and economic gain. I have been privvy to meetings re their union demands, their meetings with their "money men", e.g., "Now we will get you more benefits so you can shop more at Nordstrom", and so much more. There are individuals of low moral character, e.g. soliciting others to take vital tests in their place, and worse, and the "SYSTEM" itself is corrupt.

epicure, the clips were not available, so I couldn't quite connect the color purple, or probably, I am not familiar with the scenario and neither with the significance of the color in your society. But by true colors, I gather that there must be deception in the the image of the teachers, that they are not the educators who care for the well being of your children. And in effect, they are actually the abusers of your children. But debra up there paused a poignant question about reaping what you guys sowed, something about allowing what feels good to be felt... Whatever, but if there is a glaring serious problem about the welfare of the children, especially if the problem is about school and teachers, complaints must be filed in the commission for education. The government must address this problem immediately because children cannot protect themselves against preying adults.

What I refered to was the very real results of social engineering by those in power. Not just the low level teachers who teach a curriculum that is dumbed down and full of social training, but the high level policy makers who are in charge of the entire educational system in America. There is a reason why America lags behind in math and science. Our kids are intentionally NOT being educated in these areas.

Granted that these isms had transpired, and epicure has a legitimate concern, what now are the concrete measures that the citizens, most of all the parents, must be carried out. Would it be vigilance, say parents forming core groups to keep watch the development and progress of the children the academics? And they constantly communicate with subject coordinators so there would be no room for abusive acts?
