Dark elbows??

My elbows are kinda darker than the skin of my hand. I have a fair skin so even if it's slightly darker, it looks bad. It's kinda red-ish. I think i got them because I rest on my elbows. But well actually I don't really know.
So, does anyone have the same problem?? And does anyone have some effective remedies?? I've been trying to scrub it away like forever and I have realized it to be a not-so-effective method . Your help will be much appreciated
P.S. I put this discussion up on "help others" because I couldn't think of where it'd go best

IMO, scrubbing darker parts of your body regularly wouldn't help much. It'll just make your skin more darker. just scrub it lightly with soap or body scrubs, then after drying, don't forget to put moisturizer. A whitening moisturizer would be great. Doing this regularly will make your elbow lighter. ^_^

my sister had the same problem and my grand mother
would cut a lemon in half and have her sit at the
kicthen table and put her elbows on the half of
lemon it seems to lighten the skin over time

first thing is do not rest on your elbow, if this is your habit, you must get rid of it because even if you scrub or treat it, it will just come back.
next is do not scrub it with rough surface, it will not help, it will cause more darkness. instead, apply lemon several minutes before you take bath. do this every day.
after taking bath, apply lotion in that area. apply again before you sleep. it helps soften the skin and remove the old skin that causes darkness.
and lastly, do not rest on your elbow again this is what i always keep in mind every time i see someone's elbow which is dark. it's not good to see fair arms with dark elbows. i'm not so vain when it comes to my skin, but i just hate dark elbows.

Hello thatgirl13, I too used to have this problem and then I tried something from my mother's experience. Just cut a lemon in half, squeeze out some juice from one half, add a few drops of either olive oil or mustard oil or some fresh cream, any one of these three, and rest your elbow inside this prepared lemon half. Places your elbows into these lemon cups for at 10-15 every day and then wash off. Withing a few days you will start seeing good results. The oil or cream with lemon juice will add glow and softness to your rough skin at the elbows. After using on elbows, you can rub the lemon halves on your knees and feet too.
Its the best remedy that I have found so far for rough, black elbows!

Hi Thatgirl. I would try lemon juice, it doesn't have to be fresh lemon you can use from a bottle as this will naturally lighten the skin but will dry elbows so make sure you moisturise them afterwards. Also using a facemask on the elbow if skin slightly red and roungh helps too. Huggles. Ellie :D

I used a product that is very effective for this one, it is organic so it wont harm the skin and it is highly effective ( you can purchase it from me lol) anyways, i have been using it for a time now.. and i do not know if it available in your area...it is even effective in other areas where you want to whiten.. when i was pregnant there were areas that got really dark and i used it, it is better and lighter now..even in armpits you can use it...

Hey thanks but I think I'll be giving the lemon a try first and if it doesn't work can I come back to you?? Coz I'm seeing we aren't from the same country so it might be a little difficult.

Last year my left elbow was a bit like what you are mentioning. I would stop scrubbing it because it seems to me that you are irritating the skin. My left elbow was this way because of how I was sitting at my pc resting my left elbow on the desktop hard surface. I bought Suave Advance Therapy Lotion and rubbed it on twice a day.
My elbow is as good as new. Hope this helps.

I wish it didn't bother me too, but it does. And yes specially during summer when my arms are exposed and there are many people around .
Anyway I think you should give a look at some of the responses here and try it. Many have recommended using lemon. I'm giving it a try
