Dear All,
We have heard about players having different kind of superstitions, like wearing a special colored sox or tying the left shoe laces first or kissing the ball before starting the run up or the players not moving when a partnership is happening.
I am sure that we as audience have certain superstitions too..!!!!
I personally do not have any special ones But ...if I find that while watching cricket, I get up for water or do something and a wicket goes then I sit down and I do not flinch. I hope you all remember the test match between India and Pakistan in Chennai, where Sachin scored a 147, but he got out,...Well that match India had lost lost 5 wickets before Sachin and Nayan Mongia put a partnership. All these wickets fell, whenever I had gotten up to get some water to drink. So I decided I will not move, and did not move till the last moment. And tell you what, when I got up finally, Nayan Mongia got out... And from there it was a collapse...!!!!
Now for the recent match between India and Australia, well I went to get something to snack on and Gambhir committed a suicide run out. Well he tried it three times and succeeded the third time. All this happened when I was out of my seat. And the next time I moved, Dhoni was out. So I decided to sit there the same position that I was watching the match and do the same thing till India won the match... And see India won...(:D)....!!!! I know a friend, whose family asks him to leave the house whenever India is playing.. They ask him to come back after the match... They believe, that if he stays in the house during the match, it is bad for India...!!!
It sounds corny...But I am sure we all have some superstitious beliefs or things that we do in order to see our team win..
Why don't you share some of your superstitious beliefs or things that you do to see your team through...!!! Let us see what works for each of us??? It could be fun...!!!

Yes, the players have a lot of superstitions. In fact even in local games we have a lot of superstitions. If our team is winning we never allow any of our team members change their position if our batsmen are doing well.
Cheers!

Hi Dear Balu! Being a science student, superstitions don't have any role in my life! I am from racing Industry where superstitions play a major role, in spite of that I don't care about the jinx and superstitions. But then I am keen observer and like to watch the people who are superstitious and what they do to win an event! I am mentioning few superstitions pertaining to this coming match and also to Cricket in general!
1. It is said by one numerologist that the number 24 is lucky for Indian team and she asked all the Indians to write down this number on their hands with blue ink pen while watching the match on 30.03.2011.
2. She further aid to wear blue colored dress resembling Indian team as this is a lucky color on that particular day for the Indian Team playing semifinal at Mohali.
3. I have seen people not moving from their seats till the end of on innings, they feel that by doing so thy may bring bad luck to the team!
4. I have seen people who doesn't allow to appreciate the performance of the player, as they feel that this brings bad luck to the player and gets out if we praise him. They typically call 'Nazar' in Hindi language!
5. Some people stick to their fixed snacks and drinks as they feel that changing them would change the fate of the team while watching TV!
6. Some people prefer to watch match on their own TV, for them watching match on other's TV can be detrimental to Indian Team's performance.
7. Some people especially who are card players go to toilet and allow few droplets of urine to fall on their feet, if they get between the match as they believe that this brings good luck to them and ti their team!
8. Sneezing before the starting of the match, may it then be on TV is considered as a bad omen and the person who sneezes is made target if the team looses on that particular event!
9. Some people carry their favorite things while watching the match like a sponge ball, a kerchief of particular color etc which they believe it as their lucky charm!
10. Some people conduct public worship of God and conduct religious pyre called 'Yagna' or 'Homa' to ensure the winning of the Indian team!
These are few things which i remember and so I jotted them down. Hope you will enjoy going through each one of them!
Thanks for the discussion, I enjoyed participating in it!
