Thanks for clearing it all up, Obama....

Ok, Obama, so this action against Libya is because of Gadhafi's attrocities, but isn't against Gadhafi. It isn't about regime change, just to change the regime. The US should show leadership, but the US shouldn't be the leader. The UN sanctioned it, but the UN isn't fighting it (NATO is). Ok, thanks for clearing THAT all up.

The speech to explain it all was really a speech to excuse it all. He did not clearly demonstrate our national interest or give us a clear plan or strategy. We still have no specific goal. Instead, the speech was a series of points addressing each criticism the White House has heard over the past month, without mentioning the criticism. The speech exactly followed the narrative of the liberal media and democratic strategists using all the excuses and scenarios they have created to explain Obama's position. He was simply agreeing with his base of supporters, affirming their explanations of his actions. Instead of being indecisive for a month, suddenly he was coordinating behind the scenes and "created the conditions for others to step up". See? France and the UK and even the Arab League begging the US to commit to a no-fly zone was really his strategy all along. He made it possible for them to take the lead and commit their resources. What a guy! Instead of dithering, partying and traveling for the last month, he was working behind the scenes. So far behind, in fact, that our allies didn't even know he was working with them. Even Hillary didn't know as she met with the G8 leaders, because she was unable to tell them what the US position was, no matter how many times they asked. Then, with lightning speed, he coordinated the largest and quickest humanitarian response. Of course he dissed Clinton completely over Bosnia and Bush over Iraq, because when he made up his mind - even if it took 3 weeks of pulling and pushing to get him to make up his mind - he moved so fast he couldn't even stop to get Congressional authority or tell the American people why he was doing it. That's how decisive he is. He didn't want to make the speech from the Oval Office - no audience. He can't do anything without the love. It was classic Obama. Narcissistic, inexact, lacking in details and so far removed from reality he becomes the hero of his story, creating the legend he intends to be.

"So far behind, in fact, that our allies didn't even know he was working with them" Rollo, I demand that you come to my house and clean the coffee off my computer screen!! I forgot to watch it. In my experience, he talks a lot but really says very little. I plan to read the transcript today. What a sad excuse for a leader he is. However, if we had an office of Partier in Chief he would be perfect for it. I cannot fathom how the American people can see that man having soirees at the WH each week, playing golf more than any other prez, traveling around the world helping other countries like Brazil while we have people starving and unemployed here, and spending money like there's no tomorrow and not want to riot. I am outraged and can't understand why most of my countrymen are not.

I love reading Rollo's responses and the only reason there's not coffee all over my screen too is the pot's still brewing. Why aren't the people rioting? I guess because they don't want to wind up in a FEMA camp, or shot by UN peace keeping troops. I'm being sarcastic again, OR AM I? Granted, this link is not to mainstream media...but that is exactly why I trust it: http://theintelhub.com/2010/05/24/russian-un-troops-confirmed/ Again, I'm just wondering....

And BTW, Obama's not much of an historian either. He said this won't be like Iraq because that regime change took 8 years. Aside from the fact that he hasn't committed to regime change, just changing the regime through "kinetic military action" which is nothing like war except we use weapons and things blow up and people die, he's off by about 7 years and 11 months. Even Baghdad Bob would agree with me on that.

And don't forget, our mission is not to remove Gaddafi, but removing Gaddafi is the US policy.

Wow. I guess I shouldn't feel bad that I fell asleep before Obama's speech and didn't wake up until after it was over. Doesn't sound like I missed much.

I was at work and in and out of resident's rooms. The ones who had it on, were sleeping or reading and not paying attention. What I heard wasn't awe inspiring. I did catch him saying he 'talked' it over with congress?? Did he? Did anyone catch the show with GWBush and three other past presidents on it later?
