Not necessarily so because it depends on several factors. Pirated versions are more open to problems. This is because the software has been compromised. It is said that torrentz sites tend to be a gateway for Software downloaded from legitimate sites generally have no problem. Nevertheless I did face some problem with one free version of a well-known anti-virus software from a widely known site. I am now using a different, free anti-virus software downloaded from the Internet. All its functions work well.

Free anti-virus also works. Of course, the ones you pay for works better. I guess it depends on how active you are on your computer, if you download a lot, or you plug different flash drives in your computer, then there's a bigger chance that you'll get a virus. but if you're inactive that way, then a free antivirus would work just fine. You can also buy from the internet. Not all downloaded anti-virus are free. I think it's even better to buy from the internet, from official websites of anti-virus companies, rather than buying from the market because most probably they are just pirated or copies. You should always update your anti-virus to keep you protected, whether it's free or paid.

Hi sili, What you have learnt is right. Those you download from the net free of coast like 'avast'.'antivir' etc do not work properly for they are not developed that way so that they detect each and every virus that entrees your pc. The one you buy from market as one user or maximum three users are good. Presently I am using three users bit defender and I am not having any problem for a long time. Your computer is costlier than your anti virus software. So so and buy it.
