How would you react if your partner had contaminated you with a STD ?

A king of France in the 16th century, Francis the first, was saying that a man without a mistress was an idiot.
As everybody wants to please a king, there was no many idiots in his kingdom, and women had also lovers -- both genders need to collaborate for a harmonious kingdom --. A legend tells that a mistress of the king married a lawyer who was jealous, and that this man got voluntarily the syphilis to contaminate the king through his wife.
It happened later to another king of France, and it proves that husbands together jealous and unfaithful are not rare.
How would you react if your partner had contaminated you with a STD ?

If Francis the first was right, this means my partner is now an idiot. I don't flatter myself, if you knew my partner, you would know I am right.
Assuming that he was not an idiot and he had contaminated me with a STD ... let me think.
I think first I'd be sad.
Then, I'd be ashamed because I should go to see a doctor for the proper treatment.
Then... I'd be sad again.
Then I'd worry about him where will he sleep tonight and tomorrow night and the next week nights and the next month's nights...

Hello inu,
I believe there were still some idiots in the kingdom. At this time morals were not the same. The arrival of syphilis from America changed a lot of things. At this period no country wanted to be responsible for this disease : French attributed syphilis to Napolitans -- Colombus arrived at Naples --, Italian and English to French, Dutch to Spanish, etc. I had a look at Wikipedia, and I had some fun before starting this discussion that I will share in a further one about Wikipedia. Everybody would be ashamed to go to the doctor for a disease got like this. If I understand you well, you do not leave your husband, but you kick him out of the house without a pyjama ?

I like it that your discussions are well docummented. I never knew that syphilis came from America, along with the potatoes and the corn.
It seems I haven't expressed myself properly. He is not my husband (yet?) but I would kick him out of the house. After such an incident I couldn't bare to (not even) sleep under the same roof with him (especially that it's MY roof ), but this doesn't mean that I would kill him. I'd still worry about him because, above all, he's my friend.

The 19th century was saying that syphilis was transmitted by llamas, and they were elaborating theories about who got it first : Indians or Spanish soldiers ? A few cases of syphilis are advanced by anthropologists before the discovery of America -- the oldest at Pompei --, but difficult to prove, as some diseases disappeared from Europe today, given by the same family of bacterias, like yaws, are showing the same results on bones, but are not STD.
And for your companion, I understand now that you would really be worried. I thought first that it was humor.

That´s the way I would react too! I quited with my ex because he cheated me. I would almost "kill him" if he infects me, though! Isn´t it fair to "kill him"? Hehe.
Blessings!... Dainy

I think this would devastate me. Not only would it brng medical concern, but the lack of trust in the relationship would wither away too. it would be hard to know where to turn for comfort in such a case. The world would certainly be a bit more gray!

HEllo sender, cool man. there is nothing t worry about. Why you think that your world had crumpled and all your faith and trust have lost their roots. Think that they were there since the beginning of the mankind and fortunately now you are in an age where you can get medication to get cured from STDs.
When you knew she was the carrier of the disease just say her bye.

Oh gosh it would not only be devastating but a flat out betrayal. My initial and final reaction would be to go. Let him go asap, no questions and or explanations asked but I have to go.
I have never been unfaithful so I expect the exact treatment/care in return. King or no king. lol.

I guess I'll get myself medicated if ever. That's really not my gf's fault, if ever. I'll get both of us cured from it even if it requires too much money.

Well as the saying goes we learn from our mistakes but this is the kind of mistake that has no way to straighten up. I will for sure although it is too late leave my partner. I will be accompanied by my tears and fears to go on because I can not be like others who has been contaminated that strongly revealed themselves to set an example of bravery, give encouragement and awareness to the disease,to give courage to continue their life. But of course I admire them,no crying over spilled milk.

Hello macayadann,
I suppose it is rare to show no fears when you get a STD which can have a fatal issue. But all are not fatal, and you are envisaging the worst possible case. You are too pessimistic. Maybe you will be cured quickly, and the only "spilled milk" will be not your life, but your couple's life ? Try to be more positive.
Have a nice evening.

if my partner will contaminate me. I will cut off his organ so that he behaves himself and not contaminate any other girl. I will also look for ways to heal myself from the disease.

I'll definitely get angry because I know that he's using other woman beside me. That's a sign of infidelity...That will be the start of a great war.

Two responses, and the second is slightly different than the first. A little bit worst than the first for your partner though. I looked for a third, for the case you would have wanted to kill him, and fortunately for him, there is not a third box from you.
Seriously, a majority of responders would also leave such a partner. It is one of the worst thing that can happen to a couple, and I follow you completely -- but not as far as hell --.
Have a nice day.

Well, over the yrs. this is one thing that people who are promiscuous outside of marriage take a chance with. There is even still the chance of Aids etc. out there as well. I know back in the day when I did not care I can remember this happening to people I knew, and it was scary. Personally if you want to protect yourself the most, wait until you're married to someone and the make sure you both have been checked if there was a livid past beforehand as well.

Of course, i would really get mad at her and I will never love her anymore. The thing is, when she has STD it only means that she did it with someone else and it's cheating. That is the baddest thing that a person would do to his/her partner.

Hello BleedingShadow,
I would be more sad than upset. An accidental contamination -- by a syringe by example -- is also possible, but I would also think first that I have been cheated and I would always have a doubt. The doubt is enough to ruin a couple in this case.

Hi topffer,
Well that was a different time and now it is a different time. STD in STD in the past was not easy to cure as it is now not a big deal.
If I detected that I have been contaminated with an STD I would go to the go to the doctor and get cured and then asked my mistress why on earth she indulged in such activity.

Addendum.
Does STD necessarily include AIDS or HIV? What I had put was keeping HIV and AIDS aside. And I accept what you have said.

Hello krajibg,
AIDS is not yet in the past, and many people are dying in the world because treatments are too expensive for them. All we can wish is that a vaccine will be discovered quickly to eradicate this STD which is killing so many human beings in Africa today.
Not sure you are doing everything in the right order : I would first speak to my mistress and push her to the doctor with me, if I was ready to accept her behavior -- I am sure I could not, so I am speaking for the beauty of the theory --.
Have a nice day.

Hi topffer
Thank God that was a legend. But yes, there are quite many possibilities that this can happen in the real world where many people can do anything for money and power. Revenge plays a major for many people and they can go to any extent to accomplish and have their revenge... and make lives miserable.
Now to your question's answer - If the contamination is done and I am infected, the first thing that needs to be done is the medication. The discussions may follow later and I see no point in having a fight over it as it is already done. The discussions can reveal the intentions and reasons too... and I think we are mature enough not to blow the thing out of proportions by publicizing but trying to resolve with patience and for the better of both

This is an awesome story in my opinion!
What comes around goes around, the lesson of karma!
I learned something today that sort of relates. There was a finding that the species known as voles are monogamous, and their cousin species whose name I don't remember, was not monogamous. They looked for what could be the cause of the difference and found that the monogamous voles had higher levels of oxytocin. So people then studied how higher levels of oxytocin could make people more attached to their loved ones. They found that giving people oxytocin changed attachment levels from "insecure" attachment to "secure" attachment.
Then there was news that the monogamous voles were only monogamous in social attachment. In their other behaviors they were very promiscuous.
So, should it matter how much physical love people have with others as long as people are faithful as companions?

Hello sashakiddo,
I am feeding since three years a couple of turtledoves -- one has been ringleted in Turkey, so I know where they are spending their winter holidays -- which is back since a few days : they are also monogamous and it is marvelous to see them together. They are not very promiscuous and defend their seeds from other turtledoves.
I am quite afraid by this discovery about oxytocin. I was thinking that love filters were known only by medieval witches, if they are available on local pharmacies tomorrow, I am sure that people will not ask a prescription for themselves... Some discoveries in science are fascinating, and I do not understand why they are not more spread. Thank you very much for your informations about voles.
