Is it worth to shop in Ebay?

Hi Friends, I visited ebay to purchase 3.5" harddisk. I could see 1TB harddisks are sold above Rs.3400, where in the local shop I could get the same with Rs.3000 itself. Then I searched for other items. Most of the times, I find the products price is higher than actual price in local market. All the actions are also ending up with high price only. So what is the point in using ebay for shoping? Is it because of laziness to go out and buy it from shop? As a buyer I would like to use ebay in effective way. I hope with your comments and guidance I could do it. What do you think? Thanks.

You already found the way to earn indirectly. The way to earn is buy whole sales products in bulk from local market and sell them in ebay or amazon. Selling at higher price with profit margin may be the key to success in them. Thanks.

Last year i purchased a Panasonic cordless phone from the local electronics store in the market.I had sourced the model and its number from eBay India. The price mentioned in eBay was Rs 2499/- where as i paid just Rs 1850 for the exact model and also with a years warranty. So you see that products on Ebay are much costlier than in the local store.Since you have also had the same experience i agree with what you have said. Moreover we are totally at the mercy of the seller in ebay as there is no guarantee that we will be getting the original goods and anot a secondhand goods.I think its best to use eBay only to get details of the product and then look for it in the local market. In fact i had enquired about the same phone over a year ago and found that its price was Rs 100 more than what i actually paid for in the local store.

Yes. You are right. We can collect details from ebay and surely plan to buy with lesser cost from local market. But why don't all buyers think this way?
