I'm leaving tomorrow to drive from Vancouver BC to Carmacks in the Yukon. Its going to be a long trip and there will still be lots of winter conditions on the highways. Its 1757 miles and 33.5 hrs. I'm taking 5 days though to take my time and be safe. I'm going to also stop lots along the way and see the natural sights.
What is the longest road trip you have driven on? How was it?

the longest road trip i've been on is from my province to another province south of mine. i don't know the distance in miles. all i know is it takes about 16 hours to get there - 8 hours on a good highway, and another 8 in an off-road trail, of which on one side is the face of a cliff, and on the other is a gorge. i did not drive, but it's exhausting nonetheless. and quite adventurous too.

I've been on several driving trips from California back east, the last one in 1975, probably about 2,500 miles each way, plus some driving from NY south to SC on at least 2 of those occasions. The longest driving trip as an adult was probably Los Angeles to Yellowstone National Park, and back via Spokane, WA.

well gas is quite a bit cheaper in the states. I never understand this since we have the oil tar sands in Alberta that produce a large sum of oil.

My longest trip on road was 12 hrs, I started from Bhubaneswar at 8AM and reached Bhawanipatna at 8PM, took only 2-3 breaks in the whole of journey. As it was an official visit so no member of the family was with me so most the time I slept off.

The longest road trip I went on was in Australia with some friends. The trip began on Christmas Eve from Brisbane and then on Christmas Day we stopped off to have a swim at a palm fringed beach. Then we arrived on Boxing Day at Cairns. So our journey had taken around 36 hours. I slept for some of the trip and at one point my pillow fell out of the window. Luckily we managed to stop and get my pillow back. I was very tired when we got to sunny Cairns. I didn't pass my practical driving test until last year. My friends had shared the driving and I had sat on the front passenger seat.

That sounds like such a lovely journey! My friend had a box blow out of the back of a pickup truck last month. It had some important papers in it. she got everything back accept a leaf she had taken from cuba as a souvenir.

I went 2523 miles from New York City to Las Vegas once and a couple times from Chicago to San Diego and also back again. That was 2080 miles each way. California is one of my favorite places to drive in and of course that is also where I ended up living most of the time.

Wow that sounds to be a long trip. Our country isn't that big though. You can pretty much go from one end to the other in a few hours. Well the longest road trip I had was when we had a festival here. It usually takes us 2-3 hrs to reach that place but because of traffic that day, it took us about 8hrs I think. God i was going crazy there but was sleeping most part of that trip. And one time I took a wrong turn in one of the highways and it took us forever to reach our destination LOL what I was a new river OK LOL

For me it's a tossup between Guelph ON CA to Branson MO, 1999 and Guelph ON CA to Nashville TN, 1996. Mom and I also drove from Guelph to Thinder Bay and Longlac in 1993.

The longest journey I have taken was just under 2000 miles several years ago now. I drove down from the North of England through France and down into Spain. It was an interesting experience as I had only ever gone there by plane before. It was tiring, and I don't think it would be something I would like to repeat again. _Derek

I never traveled a lot and it's kinda hard to reach many places by land in our province because it's an island and one can actually round it in one day.
So anyway, the farthest place I've reached (not the driver) was to this place named Bien Unido. It was a four to six-hour drive but that is far enough for me in our standards.
Most towns here can be reached in a matter of minutes.

Last summer we drove from NJ to Orlando, Florida in one day/night--17 1/2 hours. The kids were very well behaved--thank goodness for dvd players in cars! I remember doing the same trip with my parents as a child--it was a lot less entertaining, for sure. On the way back, we stopped and checked out some sights (no longer in a rush to see Mickey Mouse), which was nicer. Good luck and stay safe!
