I found an image I thought would make a nice tatoo - but you'd have to invert the colours, I guess, and make the image a bit "cleaner" with less detail.
I actually have a bird tatood in my arm, I'll see if I can find pic! (Although I wouldn't like anyone to use my special bird as a tatoo, it's kind of my bird!;) )

The Raven
Magic, Healing, Creation
If a raven totem has come into our life,
magic is at play.
Raven activates the energy of magic
and links it to our will and intention.
With this totem, we can make great changes
in our life;the ability to take the unformed thought
and make it reality.
The raven shows us how to go into the dark
of our inner self and bring out the light of our true self;resolving inner conflicts which have long been buried.
This is the deepest power of healing we can possess.

Thank you twmoores! this text describes my relationship with them and it also reveals why I have them in my life! I have been told that "The heart of the Raven is always with me"...

The raven is and has always been my favourite bird. It's quite common in Iceland and most people think of it as a burden but I think it is a beautiful bird. If you haven't found an image searching for "raven", try the Icelandic name for it, "Hrafn" and see if you get more images.

Thanks a million! I know ravens are common in Iceland - sad to say they aren't in Sweden but I actually have a couple that moved in to the neigbhourhood shortly after I realized what that perticular bird means to me.
I really do want to go to Iceland! It is such a beautiful country!

I remembered parts of an old poem
I am the wise raven
Crying aloud that enemies infest the fair fields
I am the raven ravenous
feasting on the bodies of the fallen
Sorry can't remember any more
all the best urban

Ok, this is what I can remember but it is not really about a raven.
I am the circle of life,
Sacred spiral,
Spinning the self into the centre of the soul
I am the snake swimming
The sensuous serpent
I am Dagtha the all powerful shaman sorcerer
I am sacred phallus standing stone
Planted in earth where Dagtha and Morrigan unit
I am horned Keranomath dancing the spring rite
So that all may become magically fertile
I am Morrigan,**** and*****
Chief of the powers divine
Initial progeny of worlds
Manifest alone and under one form
Birthing the soul into winter darkness
Mistress of sea, sky and shore
I am Shelanagig
Luring men on to certain doom
I am the wise raven crying aloud that enemies infest the fair fields
I am the raven ravenous, feasting on the bodies of men
I am the red in the feast of Luginasad
I am oppression and outcry and war everlasting
I am the Celtic soul
take care simon
