I have recently started meditating on a small scale but I find it helps me to stay centered, calm and peaceful. More importantly, it keeps me focused in the present moment, which is all we have? How do you stay in the present or calm or centered?

Journey of life From the day we are born to the day we are gone our life is like a journey. The interesting and beauty of this journey is that we don’t know and can’t see the finish line. For some of us the journey is shorter than for others. Therefore we should enjoy every moment of it. Always let sorrows and worries for tomorrow and keep the happiness for today. Don’t do the other way around! Enjoy every moment of your life, learn a lesson out of each experience you meet along and give love to others around you! And if you apply all these 3 in your daily life you’ll make your journey as pleasant as possible!

Yes, learn, grow and savor each and every moment. I agree. You outlined the recipe so well. Carpe Diem! Seize the Day! Live life to the fullest!

Meditation is the only way to be happy and also make others around us happy.Budhism is completely based on meditation only. Even in Hinduism much importance is given to meditation. The saying is when your mind changes the world around you changes. There is place or time to discuss the benefits of meditation in this column. It is a subject which has been centre of discussion over 50000 yrs. Kindly read books on meditation.Follow the technic which suits. All the best...

Rational thinking is the only difference between human beings and animal.Mind is the centre on which the entire universe rotates. If the mind is in your control the entire outer world cannot do anything with you.Know your mind and that is enough..

Chayapathys, your comments are profound. Here, in the US, we are not normally taught in this way. I wish that we understood and had training in the power of the mind at a very early age. Many people do not understand or believe in the abilities of the mind or that all that they see around them is a product of that thinking. We live in a culture that is constantly bombarding and distracting us with tv, music, the internet, etc.....The presence of silence is becoming less and less appreciated as the world continues to go and move at a break-necking pace.

I think it was Wayne Dyer quoting something from the Tao de Ching. He said when you change the way that you look at things, the things that you look at change. I believe our work is inner work and connecting to that Supreme source, which I cal God, is the most important work that we do and is the most fulfilling. When we are connected to all that is, we are connected to our power.

It's great to learn that you have started meditation. I have been meditating daily for the last 30 years or so and have also taught clients how to do it. Sometimes it can feel like a bit of a chore after you have been doing it for a while, but it's well worth it. It is great to be centred and calm and realize, experientially, the moment of here and now. _Derek

I am beyond thinking of it as a chore because I know how the busyness of life clouds and slows our thinking, our productivity, our love and ultimately our life. I think we all could benefit from some quiet time, to just go within and get still. Wow, 30 years.....that's amazing. What kind of work do you do? (Since you mentioned that you also teach your clients how to do meeditate.)
