I was the librarian for an experimental reactor in my country decades ago. After being working there (with my ears open) for some months, I would do any thing in my power not to have nuclear reactor anywhere.
Unfortunatly, The same people that fight against them, will do absolutly nothing to save energy. I ask each of you how much energy you could save by just forgeting you have a machine to dry clothes (they can bwe dried hung in the bathroom in Winter and in the sun in Summer). I ask all the people who donĀ“t share cars and use them with a single person to think how much gas would you save if you shared. I could go on forever.

I know that if we do our part instead of blaming it all on our goverments, even the government will discover that the people have real power to change things. I have seen it in my country.

If those nuclear plants were created keeping the safety measures in mind, this incident wont happen today in Japan. Like solar modules you said.. so yah we have to think of the safety measures first b4 going on making nuclear facilities.
