Its World Cup Final between India & Srilanka. Wankhede stadium has been turned into a fortress. The security has been beefed up in Mumbai and there is frequent checking of passengers travelling which sometimes causes inconvenience. I think this is necessary also.
What do you think my lotters?

Hi Dear Funkyguy! First of all Warm Welcome to Mylot! Yes, for final Match between India and Srilanka in the World Cup Tournament 2011, the Wankhede stadium has been convert as a fort! This tight security is a must. especially after the gruesome attacks what we had in the past in the name of terrorism! Since now both India and Sri Lanka both have their own enemies and both are having more or less similar type of motto and modus operandi, the security at the venue and around the venue becomes a utterly must!
Terrorists don't require any reason to kill people. they want to spread the terror amongst the people and want to have publicity! This event can be a good target for them. Just imagine there were only 4000 tickets left for common people and all other tickets were already been given to VIPs , that means the terrorists have the target of cream people at the venue and they will try their level best to create nuisance at the venue! So to stop them from undertaking anything like this there are the security arrangements.
three layered security is absolutely a thing to be appreciated and ban of the vehicles within the periphery of 2 Kms around the venue is a good thing to have an effecting security! It will be really a tough job and the persons who are trying to making it tight and will accomplish it successfully deserves a big salute from all of us!
Inconvenience caused to the people during this period is quite understandable,as terrorists can appear in any form from any corner as these people ave nothing in their brains except for killing the people1 So to prevent this , every vehicle on the road is checked just to make it sure that the vehicle and the persons in the vehicle are normal people and are not suspicious !
With this tight security, hopefully we will have a fantastic final match tomorrow between the two great teams India and Sri Lanka to watch! all the best to both the teams! Let the best team win the match and Good luck and happy match watching to all the mylotters! Thanks for the discussion, I liked participating in it!

I agree with everything you said.
I also remember the security that was in place for the commonwealth games in delhi. One reporter had shown how easy was it to roam around in that area with a suitcase and without going through security checks. Neways the game went on to finish without any disturbance from outside.
The same is the case here in Mumbai also. I know it is for the safety of everyone. But they are not checking every vehicle. Its done on a random basis. This is what always puts a question mark for me on the security arrangements. I hope and am pretty sure of the game going on smoothly.

The last thing we want is a terrorist attack at the finals. I read in some news saying, L.E.T. is about to attack at the finals. Our Sri Lankan team faced similar attack at Pakistan, and the team saved by the bravery of the bus driver. Please give all the help to the officials who are responsible for the safety of the teams.
