Are You What You Own?

Taking part in surveys and listening to people I found out that there are may people who think that they are what they own. Having the right pots and pans and some cook books and you are a great chef, having a surf board makes you a surfer, having a bike makes you a biker, having problems with your blood sugar makes you a diabetic.
People are not only called those things they actually think they own this kind of title.
The question is who are you really?- Are you what you own?-

Definitely not. What annoys me is when people with PhDs act like they know so much just because of their title. They may know a decent amount about their field but that doesn't give them the authority to act like a guru on life and the world.
In terms of materials, it only depends on how you feel when you lose those things. My mom got seriously upset when I broke her soap dish by accident. Other people can part with their objects more easily. In times of economic stress they are resilient.

I don't think so. We are what we want us to be. Some might think of it that way but it doesn't mean that you are what you own. Maybe a part of us is a bookworm, a cook, a writer or something but I think we are more than what we own. It's what we do with the things we own and know, how we act and share things with others that make up a character that defines us.

I have gorgeous looking units and a lovely worktop with a sparkling pattern in my kitchen. However I am useless at cooking. I eat lots of salad and rarely use my cooker. I can cook pasta or toast bread. In my lounge from what is on display it shows what my hobbies are: traveling overseas and collecting crystals. I have been called The Maxi Traveler before now. I call myself an independent traveler and in the past I used to be a backpacker. Some people think they are the personality of their car. I like a small economical car. What I am has to do with my top hobby traveling.

Hi lakshmi: Of course not. We are more than the things around us and I don't think that having the best things would make you the best person. Our talent, kindness and heart are some of the things that make us the people that we are. There's a huge difference between what we own and what we are.

I don't think I'm what I own. I don't own much anyway lol. I'm not talented at many things either for that matter so I guess I would describe myself as just being me. People have talents and are good at many things I think those things just enhance who they are, their personality.

I dont think I am what I own. I dont own the best of kitchen stuff, but I am a great cook. I have lots of things but I am not those things...A lot of times, people seem to think that what you have it what makes you you...and that just is not true. Its those people that tend to not see the value in others just in what they own.
