Trying to get a job at a coffee/bakery place... help?

Ok, So I turned in my application last Sunday, I asked to see a Manager but one wasn't there, So I handed it to the girl at the front, and thanked her. I haven't heard back and it is now Friday. I want to call... but I'm not sure what to say. My brother has said I should call to check up on my Application... But I'm not really sure how to do that. Do I call and ask to speak to a manager and ask exactly that? What if a manager isn't available?
Any tips or something?
(Also, the place is a Tim Hortons, If you don't know it's kinda like a dunkin donuts or starbucks...)

I would not call, I would stop in and just tell them what you are doing. They usually have a book to sign or a paper. Good luck!

Just something the hiring person looks at to see how many times people have been to check and are most interested.

Neat! I never heard of one of those before... Sounds a bit intimidating though O.o
Thanks for the help... But... I would like to know. How do I walk into the store like that? What do I ask? Who do I ask for, and what if they aren't there? When should I go in?

Usually when I call to check up on an application I say "Hi may I speak to the hiring manager (or the manager in charge of hiring)?" and they either transfer me if the manager is there or they tell me they aren't there and I ask to whom I would ask for next time. If I do get an answer I say "Hi My name is ____ ___ and I was calling to check up on an application." They usually ask questions, I answer and they say whether they'll look into it or when they'll look into it.

Ok... That was strange... so what do I do if NOONE answers? O.o Cause I think Hanging up might have been the wrong answer....
