Has anyone heard or is anyone watching the TV series "Outsourced"? I'm curious about its popularity. If you haven't heard, it's a 30-minute sitcom from NBC about an American call center for an American company selling novelty items. The center is located in India with Indian employees, managed by an American who was sent there to do his job or he's fired. I find it really funny because I can relate to it a bit. The call center business has been booming in the recent years in here in the Philippines too. The jokes are real funny. I've read a few things online and there's been a few bad receptions. Some find it offensive and racist. Although, one of the writers had created an article about their point-of-view: Don't Hate Outsourced Article (NOT a referral link) http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-lizardi-outsourced-20110321-22,0,885246.story So, have you seen the series? How is it for you? If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you give it a try.

I happen to like it too. I hope it gets renewed for another season. I find the humor fresh but I don't know about it being offensive. I'm even wondering if this is aired in India and what's their take on it.

It sure is funny Unfortunately, it was official that Outsourced is cancelled. Got the news from twitter of Parvesh (Gupta) and Anisha (Madhuri). I wonder too how India would or would have received the series.

What a crying shame! And from two of my favorite characters at that. It sucks when being politically correct (read: stuck up and misplaced conformity) gets in the way of real comedy. It's freaking satire and people sadly can't handle it. House loses Lisa Edelstein ( so now it's doomed: House the character and the show) so I only have Modern Family to look forward to now. sigh

I have seen bits of the show but I am not a regular viewer. I don't think the show has been getting enough viewers here in the US so it may get cancelled.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I heard it might get canned. I hope the show gets more viewers so it won't be.

With unemployment high here in the US, I myself questioned how popular a show about outsourcing jobs to other countries would be. I think there can also be some frustration when you call up for support and know you are talking to someone in another country. Add to that the factthat the phone lines often have bad connections which makes communication even more difficult. I had problems recently when I switched to DSL service from my phone company. There was a problem scheduling the set up and then the connection was bad once my service was supposed to have started. I had to make 7 phones calls within an hour trying to get what I thought was a modem communication problem fixed. It turned out that it was a problem with the DSL line outside of my house.
