MUSIC: Any advice on how to start a good or average setup for Music Recording?

Hi, I'm trying to setup a recording computer at home. Not flashy and not that expensive. Basically it's used for guitar tracks because I'm using loopers or drumstations (EZdrummer) for my drums. Question is, what preamp would be good? Or basically, how do I input the signal from my electric guitar to the computer? I'm a beginner, and any advice will do.
