Time for the spring yard cleanup.

Since today is a nice day, we've decided to do the backyard cleanup. Our roommate will be cleaning up his dog poop, and we'll be cleaning up ours. As I get a better look at the backyard, I'll know just how much re-seeding I'll have to do thanks to the dogs having complete reign over the yard in the winter. I can see so far that a lot will need to be done, I'm hoping to do it soon, prior to first mowing, and get it looking good. I need to clean up the gardens, but that will wait another week or so until it warms up further. I have some transplanting of Seedum plants to do, they're currently in pots and starting to sprout up. Our clay pots have broken, just as predicted, we never emptied them and turned them upside down like I was told to do. 2 out of 3 of them broke. It's not like we use them, since we have the garden space, we don't need pots anymore. Since we're still getting frost, I'm contemplating starting some vegetables inside, but given what happened last year, it might not be wise. I still have to plan the garden before planting, and make sure I have enough fencing to keep the dogs out of it. I'm looking forward to seeing a beautiful backyard, as well as front yard. I'm still trying to figure out what to do there, flowers for sure, probably the potted Seedum and lone Hosta that I seem to have. I thought I had 2 pots of Hosta plants, but I can only find one so far. Can't wait to get dirty with the garden planting, it should be great.

We wanted to do some yard work today, too. But, as luck would have it, our lawn mower is broken. So, no power raking. We were thinking about rototilling our yard, but decided not to. We're still investigating what type of top soil and/or manure we want to mix in when we do it. Plus, we need to arrange to get it, fill our trailer, and unload in our back yard. We also are planning our future garden. We moved into this house not too long ago,and the former owners didn't have a garden. So, we're still working on the landscaping in the back yard.

We got lucky- in the process of trying to fix the lawn mower, we flooded it. Tried starting it a couple hours later, it started!

here in Canada, although the weather is warming up (+7 C today!!), the ground is still too soft and muddy to any major sort of cleaning yet here, but like you, I am looking forward to doing some planting.

10 today will be the high, and our yard, for the most part, is pretty dry. There are a few soggy spots where the evestrough drains from, but otherwise it's dry enough to get out there and at least clean up the doggie messes.

I'm glad I live in a motel right now. I never did like doing yard work (or even house work for that matter). I do like being able to have a garden, but I have never had much luck with one. I hope you are able to get your yard cleaned up and that your garden will be successful! Have a great week!!!

I cleaned out my vegetables garden on Saturday and I found my strawberry is coming back. My husband cleaned up half of the yard yesterday, he will finish the rest in the next weekend then I will think about what I wnat to plant in our yard this year to make it real nice again. I don't like to do the whole yard clean up, one of the reason is my dog poops everywhere along the flower bed, I mihgt step on it but my husband doesn't mind it. he will wash it after I feel liek I shuold wash it onc e I step on it so I never get the job done quick.
