Lessons are learned everywhere we go, right. But let us discuss what you have learned from working, or from your work. Any thing that you can share with us not about the technical stuff related to what you do or your profession, but really lessons like knowing when to pursue an idea or when to discard it.. Other lessons might be standing in between two parties and not taking sides when there are heated up situations or issues in the workplace… or maybe, we have learned that in our work, wherever it may be, the one who’s on top of us gets what he wants, more often than not and there is nothing much we can do about the “system”… or maybe you have learned to be more patient, and not give up or maybe, you learned how to get along more with people, and maybe you also learned to read people and know who you can trust, or not… Please share yours... =)

I have learned a lot in just one year working as a nurse in a big institution here in the Philippines. People have very diverse qualities. Therefore, you cannot please them all. Some of them will like you, others will hate. Some will help you, others will give you a hard time. Nevertheless, what is important is you be true to yourself and to those around you. Show them that you are really hardworking and very eager to know more about how things are done. You will see that in no time, everything will be great! One more important lesson that I've learned: do not start any gossips/rumors!

the things that ive learned from work are: i have my patience to my customers, i have to deal with my colleagues even if i dont like them, and also i have to work hard so that i can retain my job. those are the major lessons that i applied in my work place. because i am not like that, i mean i dont have enough patience to anybody or even to my kids, i dont have to deal with people that i dont like, because for me why should i deal with them? so working to any establishment we really to learned something which are good also.

nice one! patience with customers is really needed when your work requires you to face customers, and tthis is really not an easy job. there is always the danger that you will want to let out your steam in front of them.. some customers can be very mean and demanding...

I learned that it's not exactly the place to find friends, or at least we don't have to be so disappointed if that happens cause it's very competitive. So two people that are very a-like then yes, can really find each other in there. I learned also that we don't have to kiss the boss'a** so we get anything, actually honorable bosses don't go for it, they like talent and carachter, not being spoiled or something.

hmm that is quite right! often we think we will find friends everywhere we go.. but the reality is it is not the perfect place to find a friend as you are actually competing with each other at work. :D Thank you and I really appreciate your time to respond in the discussion. One of the thing that I have learned from my work is. We have to work "Smart" It will really take you higher in the career ladder. Work "Hard" to helps too, but it is less compare to working smart.

Not to precipitate issues but move on. This attitude came to me rather late in my career as with my sensitive nature I went through a whole lot of misery by taking up every single injustice that I experienced. Today I am wiser in my ways and just ignore the slights that I may experience as I feel there are bigger dreams to fulfil than waste time on trifles.

One of the biggest things that I have learned is that no job is secure no matter how long you work for a company or how well you know your job. In 2002, I was laid off from a job of over twenty years never to be called back. It was a massive lay off. People that had been there over 30 years were let go. The same thing happened to my husband back in 2009. He had 34 years there. But he's called back to work now. It's harder for older people to find work. I am working now at a job I like better but I have always been bitter about the way the other company let me go.

One important thing learned on the job was that the boss is always watching you. No matter if you can not see him from the shutters, he still has eyes on you. The boss is always talking with his employees and tell them to spy on the others. He does not tell you directly to spy on your colleges but you will realizes somehow that he did tell you with his attitude or nonverbal comunication.
