Again the media only tells part of a story.
Michele Bachmann became the queen of 2011 fundraising this quarter, bringing in a combined $2.2 million for the quarter – bigger than the $1.9 million that frontrunner Mitt Romney reported bringing in,

what they neglect to mention is
Ron Paul raked in roughly $3 million during the first quarter through his various political organizations,

This was an entirely different article.
The same thing happened with the straw polls.They talked about who Romney beating others but neglected to say that Ron Paul beat out Romney.
So when idiots like Donald Trump say that Paul can't win, it is because of the MSM including Fox and Politico.
Get a grip people.

Romney is the candidate most cited by Democrats and liberals as the Republican potential candidate they think has the best shot. The media, being mostly Democrat and liberal would feel the same way. The reason? Romney is the candidate that is most likely not to overly excite voters. They like to tell Republicans how they ought to support the moderate milque-toasts among them.
I think the GOP needs to bring out the most conservative, outspoken candidate they can find. The people want a real choice, not just Liberal or Liberal-lite.
Ron Paul is the guy who isn't trying to sound not-too-conservative, he doesn't deny his libertarian ideals, he doesn't try to woo the middle or the left or anybody for that matter.
I don't know if a third party candidate could win, but I know that if they try to go for safe (like McCain was in 08) then they are just going to guarantee another win for Obama.

bobmnu;
The laws I am speaking of are the laws that kept large organizations from owning more then one news agency.
Examples;
No one that had controlling interest or was a sitting member of a board of directors of an energy company, government contractor, military involvement etc. could sit on a board that owned media nor could they own any kind of media.. These laws were put in place in the very eary 1900's for dozens of good reasons but Hurst had a lot to do with it.
The largest govenment contractor in American history owns NBC. 85% of our media is now owned by five company's. One of them is technically a forign national and is responsible for the spreading of the Quran burning in the middle east this week.
The FCC is being sued today by ATT and Verizon because the FCC has told them how they will protect our privacy and how individuals can control their own information and compete with them. They want our access limited. This is not the whole of that story but they will end up winning that suit which will lead to more coporate control for them and less service/availability to us. The republicans are also trying to pass a bill this week to overturn the same FCC ruling. This is about us, once again getting screwed.
So, when someone talks about free press in America I find it laughable.
