Are you planning to see the movie? What expectations do you hold? Will the movie make a mark on the idiotic ideas of altruism and self-sacrifice that are at the heart of statism? Or, will people just think, "it's a great story" without realizing the significance and parallels to current issues?

They didn't get the point to Lord of the Rings.
And no, I don't think the majority will get it.

OK. I'm curious, what has altruism got to do with statism?

You stole the very words from my mouth! Sacrifice & altruism are lofty goals, in my opinion--while "statism" is anything but!
I haven't seen the film, & probably won't 'til it comes on TV (or a pal lends me the DVD), so I can't understand the objection. Without revealing the end, can you give me the bumper sticker version so I can understand?
