My mom told me that when I can't sleep I should count a lot of sheep jumping over a rainbow or just anything that I could think of that they should jump on lol! But it doesn't work! What's worst is that they're all black sheep! Got any good advice? :D

There is a trick about counting sheep in order to make it work
Don't count from 1 upwards because your brain will just keep going.
Try counting from 100 and working backwards. Once you start counting, 99, 98, 97... as they jump over the fence, your brain will start relaxing becuse there are fewer and fewer that still have to jump over it.
Try it that way and see if it works...
46, 45, 44... 43, 42,..

Hmmm, this sounds new to me and the more I think about it, it does make sense! Counting backwards is really easier than counting the normal way. I just have to stop at zero or I'll be counting the same way again for the negative signs say 3,2,1,0,-1,-2,-3 LOL. Just kidding :D

I don't find fault with counting ships, it's the direction that has to be changed. Instead of counting sheep forward, imagine the sheep jumping backward. The more sheep that goes backward, your consciousness will let go and make you asleep.

Counting sheep backwards! That's also new and interesting. However, my only concern with that is that the sheep might fall and can't make it across LOL. I mean that really looks funny, and they fall down on top of each other! LOL. Sorry just desperate about these damn sheep :D

Counting sheep don't work for me as well. I think it makes me more awake since I don't want to miss any sheep hehe. Tiring yourself is one good option, sometimes you are so tired that your eyes seems to be shutting on their own. What I do sometimes is I just lay in bed, eyes tightly close and I just let my mind wander. Sometimes I just think of relaxing places.

I heard it too or watch from movies or television series. it sounds funny but I try them but just get bored, since i already try it and already count all the object around my room, but it seems that i think i am tired of reading them but my mind just could not stop thinking.
I experience changing my position in sleeping such as adding pillows or letting my eyes get tired by reading or watching movies marathon. But, still could not sleep. All around my house and even the neighborhood are all fast asleep and i still awake. i even could heard the crickets and the ticking of the clock. I think it goes for more than 2 days then it just stop, then i already finish the things or task which gives me worry. From that time then, I could relax and sleep better.

the idea of counting is to get yourself to a monotonous activity that would eventually bore you and make you sleepy. but i guess this activity isn't always as effective as most thinks. why don't you just read a boring book, or perhaps play some melo songs.
but if you have to stick to counting sheep, well any sheep will do. it wouldn't matter what color they are anyway, as long as they jump over the fence so you could count them. LOL.

LOL even if they're rainbow colored? Alright I got the point already, so the trick is to bore yourself to sleep. I'll look up the library and find a thick old English book. Haha let's see if I still don't get sleepy! :D

Usually, drinking milk before going to bed would make you sleep faster. Also, during the day, you have to tire yourself, do rigorous tasks before you sleep, it would make you feel exhausted thus sleeping will be easy.

Thanks for the comment, I'll try doing this later when I sleep. Maybe a 3km jog would do it right? :D

You can repeat just one word and this repetition will sound like a lullaby. It works for me. Some suggest reading some boring stuff.

When you can't sleep, get up and go to the kitchen. Get a glass and pour in some warm milk. Don't add sugar because it will make your stomach acidic. Just plain warm water and milk, then drink it. It will help you feel sleepy after a while.
