Last night India team won the cricket match, the guys of my area celebrated it with fireworks, slogans, dancing etc, some distributed sweets.
This morning when I went toilet operated the flush and came out as usual. After five minutes I heard a bang on the on the back door, it was the person who lives on the back side lane. The waste water pipes, pipes from toilets, bath rooms, and kitchens end there. They are made from PVC and have covers over each to clean by the sweepers if blocked.
Somebody had removed the covers, so the stuff from toilet were scattered on this lane, some had entered door of this man, and quite naturally he was upset.
Hubby had to call a sweeper and sent our servant to buy the covers, it was difficult to get, because covers are not sold separately, we had to buy 2 feet pipes that has bends with covers fitted; the covers were removed and fitted.
This I guess was done by the guys who celebrated the victory.
But is that the way, why this irresponsible behavior, their fun cost us well over 1500 rupees.
Kalyani ‘Namastey’. .
God bless you to enjoy a lucky day ahead.

Similar in our city on Saturday night, our home university's basketball team lost their game in the NCAA tournament Final Four. There was some trouble here because of the loss. There were at least 80 reports of couch fires in the city. This took up the time of our firefighters and there was even one house here in town that caught fire because of a troublemaker's fire that was too close to their home. I think it is stupid that people think they have to celebrate a victory or grieve a loss in this way.

Kalyni2011, I am sorry to hear about the joke played upon you all. Some people just have a twisted way to express their emotions and never consider the consequences to the innocents. I hope you all were able to properly sanitize to avoid infections.
Several times here in Houston, Texas, USA, I have run into angry and frustrated people lost on a street they thought they had rightfully followed only to find they had been driving on the wrong street! How? Someone had turned the street names so that the names were on wrong streets or turned traffic signs so that they gave otherwise instructions. These pranks are often dangerous and, just as in your case, have resulted in serious consequences. I hope the culprits are found and fined!

People think they can do whatever they want if they are in a big group celebrating or protesting whatever. I'm glad you were able to help remidy the problem. If possible file a complaint with someone especially if these pipes are not your responsibility to maintain or if they are that they were harmed or vanalized.

Is there a way you can get the "celebraters" to help cover the expense? It is not fair that you should have to cover it all! Do you own the property and is that the reason you had to pay for it?

Celebrations like that can often get very carried away. I guess the celebraters are so caught up in their moment that they don't think about how much their actions are affecting others. I hate that you have had to pay the price for the party. It is very irresponsible of them to have cause damage.

hello kalyni,
Oh,so it's costs that much because of other's mistakes.
How can they so irresponsible.
That's really sad and bad behavior...
It's okay to celebrate but not to the extent of damaging things like this.
Hope everything is fine now dear

It amazes me how people disregard others while celebrating. Its like don't do it to someone else, because you wouldn't want that done to you. I know celebrations in my area when there is a big win or loss warrants police to set up riot patrols, because many people go into the streets to celebrate. It is also odd that whether it is a win or a loss they do the same things. People need to learn how to control their behaviors and it is unfortunate that it cost you and your family in the long run because of their immature celebration.

Hi kalyani, It is sad to say, but Indians are the worst when it comes to social consciousness and civic sense. Most Indians clean their house and garden and throw the refuse and garbage into others compounds. Something similar has happened in your case where people who are absolutely irresponsible have not cared for the surrounding. in fact they would be angry if this is highlighted by anyone.I feel disgusted at this typical Indian mentality of irresponsibility and plain selfishness!

I'm with you!
I will never understand why people "celebrate" by tearing stuff up.
Here in the US, when the SF Giants won the World Series, those guys celebrating (I'll call them idiots ) started riots in the streets.
Why? Your team just won. You should be happy. This isn't the time to cause damage to where you live. That is stupid and irresponsible!
Imagine how bad if the teams lose? I don't want to think about it. They would probably do worse.

hi kal,
i wonder why people had to destroy things just to show that they are happy with something. it is a crazy attitude.
as lessor, you are forced to get the mess out and clean up and apologize to the lessee even if its not your fault.
i hope the lessee understands your flight.
