What do you think,Cricket should be our National Game.nobody remembering hockey

hay Yes off course hockey is national game of India but many of the Indians wants Cricket to be our national game because it has many fans but we should not forget one thing we have won more cups in hockey than in cricket.Cricket is a game full of enjoyment I feel Cricket could be said as loving sport of India.

Hi vbpujara! I think national game, and symbols are not chosen on popularity. They are chosen because they are integrated with India in a way. Today Cricket is successful and popular so you change the national game. Tomorrow shooting? and then Formula one? Tennis? Chess? Where is the end? No doubt Cricket is very popular but national game is not chosen on popularity alone. If we concentrate on Hockey as much as we do on Cricket then we will be world champions in Hockey too. But Hockey is suffering because of neglect from people. And these days everyone encourages their kids to be cricketers but how many encourage one to be a Hockey Player? I feel there is no need to insult Hockey by taking away the national game status. Hockey has given us Dhyanchand a player like Bradman in Cricket for Australia. And Cricket doesn't need national game status it is good enough without it also. So why do we need to make a change first of all? Happy Mylotting!

I too had the same doubt yesterday , it can't be done that much easily . Hockey could be developed but cricket can't be changed as our national game

The way this game of Cricket has influenced our country, I feel, it should be declared as the National Game. There was a time when we had a phenomenal player Major Dhyanchand and his contribution to the game and to the pride of the nation can't be ignored, however, we are living in 21st century and we should give priority to the Game that overcomes the barriers among the people of our country and unites us irrespective of so many differences. When we won the world cup, we celebrated it like 26th Jan and 15th August. Everyone in this country had the flag in his/her hand and so many fans had the tri color on their faces that we don't even see on 26th Jan/15th Aug. Logically, Cricket should be our national game, however, I don't think it is practically possible.
