Having dogs in the city

So I live in a small city and I have two dogs. We've had a rough winter with lots of snow, so I haven't cleaned the dog poop in the front yard in awhile.. on account of not being able to find it in the snow! Well the snow melted last week but I work 12 hour overnights and didn't get to it til like 2 days after the snow melted. The day before I was going to do it, I get a letter from the city telling me I need to clean it up or get fined! It wasn't a big deal because I was going to do it anyway.. but it still made me feel like crap :( So anyway, my question to you all.. if you live in a city, what do you do with your dog poop? Do you bag it up and put it with the trash? I grew up in the country, so I was used to throwing it in a field... I'm curious as to what others do with it!

I don't have a dog right now but my friend has one and she always cleans after her dog. We live in an apartment and the dog does her duties outside but every time we take her out we carry bags to clean the mess. There are not many people who do the same, most of the dog owners let the dog poop on the sidewalks and this is disgusting. It's not pleasant to step into it and then carry it inside.

I have a neighbor that lets her dog poop on my sidewalk. I know it's her because they are very small.. and well, my dogs make much larger messes lol. I don't know, she's just crazy. One time my 14 year old boxer was off her leash and literally took two steps toward her and she started yelling and called the cops. It was really weird because there were a bunch of us outside and I got the dog back, apologized and then continued my conversation... but this woman was still yelling for like 20 minutes! Then the cop said she was more upset because she thought we were laughing at her... Yeah, I need to move lol.

We do just bag ours up, and put it in the trash can the city picks up once a week.

I had the same problem except it was confined to our own yard. pretty much our backyard porch. One thing not to do is flush it down the toilet. I tried it and it started to get plugged up. So yes, I put some in a small plastic bag and through it in the trash.
