i used to love fast foods when i was younger because of its good taste. but lately i realized that it only taste good because of the artificial flavorings. when i learned to cook, i found out that you can make a really sumptuous, delicious meal if you put your heart into it. compared to fast foods, it really taste better and also HEALTHIER because you know that the ingredients that you used are healthy and safe. up to now i am still experimenting different recipes.
DO YOU COOK? please share your recipe.

I do not get to eat out very often anymore. I am home with my son almost all the time and so I do a lot of home cooking now. it is really a lot healthier and as you said I know what I put in a dish! I prefer it and am still experimenting with different spices and such!

I cook a lot at home too!! It's much healthier because you get to more organic and natural ingredients compared to the much more prepared seasonings that most fastfood or restaurants have. You know what's on your plate and it's fun too!.. I'm currently experimenting on different spices right now as well.... It's just fun fun fun!

It is really fun - all the experimenting! I am even growing some of my own spices right now - we'll see how it ends up going, but it's fun trying anyway!

YES! I really love to cook. I like spicy foods.
I love caldereta (beef stew) and chopsuey very much. They're among my favorites.
I think what makes a caldereta really sumptuous is the Worcestershire sauce, relished pickles, liver spread and lots of chili. Some cook it with plain tomato sauce or soy sauce. I got that special recipe from mom. And for the chopsuey, oyster sauce should be present.

Hi. jaydee49. Welcome to myLot! I agree. Home cooked meals taste more delicious, and especially more nutritious as well. I don't eat out a lot at all. If I do, it is once a month or so. I just don't like spending my money on junk food, not unless it is nutritious. I enjoy eating salads and sandwiches when I go out to eat. I also love steak and vegetables as well. I normally make my own hamburgers at home. They taste very nutritious and natural too. Why pay for something when I can make it at home for free? I can combine my ingredients the way that I would want to.

Yep, I cook especially on occasions. I got some recipes from my mom who was my first teacher. Here's one that I'd like to share - Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet. Fry the fish. Set aside. Prepare the sauce composed of corn starch, vinegar, sugar, water and salt to taste. Set aside. Saute onion, garlic, red bell pepper and strips of ginger. Then pour the prepared sauce into it, simmer 'till the sauce thickens. When done, place the fried fish into the sauce and simmer again for about 2 minutes or just enough for the sauce to get into the fish. Hope this helps. Good luck jaydee!

Welcome to mylot! I do get you :) I remember being seven and going to fastfood chains ordering fried chicken over and over again! Only to realize as I got older that homecooked tasted way better and healthier than fastfood! I dont cook much but when I am home during vacations or office leaves My mom would cook fried chicken. She would first marinate it overnight with some spices like basil and cloves. she would pair it off with white sauce made of cream (and other stuff-- she wont tell!) instead of gravy! It was so tasty :) now that i remember about it I cant help thinking about home :(

Yes, of course I cook…having a family of my own, there is no way out. But what you say is very true… when I was younger too (like in my teens or early youth, till 30/33 yrs), I was very fond of fast food and I could digest it well too and not put on much weight. But now that I’m ion my late 30s, home cooked simple food is the best for me. Somehow, I no longer feel attracted to all the rolls and burgers and kebabs and pastries, if fact I just cant seem to have any outside deep fried food! Much better is over-boiled rice, boiled and smashed potatoes and eggs with a small dollop of butter, salt and green chillies…it’s the best for me any day. Also yumm are simple daal, simple veggies and occasionally meat or fish.

I really love to cook. My mom started teaching me how to cook when I was still 10 years old. When I got married, I didnt have any problems when it comes to cooking. The only problem I had is that my husband doesnt always like what I cook and he think its weird.

I don't discount the fact that I too love going to fast foods but not too often like when I don't feel like cooking though it happens only twice to thrice a month. I enjoy going to fast foods but I love home-cooked meals because the assurance of its cleanliness and manner of cooking is evident as you were the one who prepared it unlike when in fast foods, you have no idea as to how the food was prepared. It is better to prepare home-cooked meals because you are more aware of its nutritional contents than when bought from fast foods. I love as it is my interest. I love experimenting on foods that are unique especially those whose ingredients are vegetables, fish, chicken, and beef and carabeef. I do away with pork as it is rich in cholesterol. My wife's a good cook. She does prepare sumptuous meals for she believes that the "way to a man's heart is through his stomach." =)
