have you ever have a lice in your head???

I remember when I was young my mom and I usually quarrel every morning because she wants me to get rid of lice. We tried a lot of lice removing shampoo but nothing works.
And this is the silly thing, when I was in school, a friend of mine as old as I am. I was 7 that time. Told me that her mom put gasoline to her hair just to remove those lice. And so I laughed. I replied, "yeah I guess you'll get rid of it after using a matchbox and matchsticks."
And so, after a week or so, my mom heard of that in when she chatted with my friends mom. I was really crying, because I have the feeling that she'll burn my hair too.
My mom put gasoline on my hair, and so I said to her "Mom, do you really have to burn me just because of lice? Why? If you'll proceed then you'll get rid of me too. " I was really drown in tears. I can't explain. She replied only with a smile. And my mind tells that she's smiling like a devil or something. I was freaking scared that time.
But, when she got the hose and shampoo I felt relief. She just killed the lice by soaking my hair with gasoline.
Ha ha ha. That was one of my unforgettable experience I had. My lice story. Ha ha ha.. Well, it works anyway, though it will kill me, really by fright. ha ha..
But I don't want it to recommend to others.:)

i hate them as well, it makes me go crazy because of itchiness when i had them in my head, i have more of them when i was a kid and playing around with girls who had lice as well and my hair is sweating and being always under the heat of the sun and sometimes i will not clean my hair before going to sleep, and so they multiply that much, plus my mother will have a session every afternoon to get them from my hair and it is very painful when she pull them in the strand of my hair, huh, good thing those days are gone... =)

Do you spend much time with children? Here, head lice are a horrid but normal occurrence, cos our kids in the UK are infested with them!!!

Head lice made a come back in the 1980s. I had never seen it before until my daughter brought it home from school in the first grade in 1981. Since then schools have had to have regular head checks. I have not heard of the problem in the last few years so the regular head checks must have made an impact.
This was the standard treatment told to me years ago: The lice shampoo alone will not prevent a return of infestation. The eggs require use of a fine tooth comb. The eggs can hatch every seven days. All bedding and clothing has to be washed in warm water and dried in a hot dryer. Storing items afterwards in a tightly closed plastic bag also assures the re-infestation. All furniture needs to be vacuumed daily.
The use of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) applied generously to the head with a shower cap to cover it after several hours will rid them completely. (But it is not recommended as it takes continuous washing to rid the greasy mess from your head.)

I experienced that way back when I am still in grade school. I really have a long hair back then so my mom told me to cut it short to eliminate some of the lice. I guess it's a part of growing up since we always play under the sun. I hated it because on the itchy feeling it gives to your head. Good thing my mom also bought me a lice remover shampoo that you have to use twice a week. Since then, I don't have lice anymore.
