Do you have something on your mind?

Sometimes we get "something on our minds" and we just can't shake it. It's that thing that we carry with us to work, while we are at home, with friends, it's just there. That something can bug someone so much that it makes them act differently or detached from the people around them right then. It can even take over sometimes if a person lets it. It might be financial related or it might be something from the past. Have you had something on your mind that's bugging you? Have you carried it a long time or does that something take different forms at different times?

Yup , all of us almost always have something up on our minds, isn't it. Hiya Jenin , how are you doing , hope all's well with you. Sometimes on a not so good day , or on a busy one , I can have a thousand and one thoughts up in my head. Multi-tasking is what everybody's up to these days huh ... it's always something this and something that. LoL ...busy , busy bees that we are. Have a good one , sweets.

I think this is something that happens to many if not most people. As a Zen practitioner, I see it as my karma that is due to the conditioning my mind has received during my life from teachers and others in authority. It is what I regard and my "shouldism" that I or another "should be" a certain way and it's based on conditioned expectation of me/them. Through meditation, I see this activity of the mind and focus on it and then eventually let it go. As I have meditated over the years, the problem has become less and less as I detached from my opinionated mind. _Derek

The mind won't naturally stay focues on nothing at all, to with meditation, we focus on the breathing and aim to exclude all other thoughts, It will take a long time to perfect, perhaps many lifetime, but the journey towards success is what it of value. I have a link on my profile to a deeper explanation of Zan and meditation._Derek

Do you condition your mind to think of certain things or nothing at all for a moment? I think that you are on to something with the teachers and authority thing. I think that they have a great influence on us and therefore are kind of teachers for out thoughts too. It's a shame that they are sometimes not such great influencers. What do you do if you have had not so great experiences with teschers or authority?
There are a lot of people that would like to be free of their thoughts. I am glad you have found a way to contain and/or control them. Thanks for sharing derek!

HI JEN, I think that's called being a worry wart. Something i have been accused of many times. I always have something on my mind, it's never quiet, lol. May be something that doesn't amount to a hill of beans but always something there.

I know where you want this discussion to go to, and I know that this is meant for serious things that gets stuck in our mind, but I would like to throw in a lighter side of the discussion.
Yesterday, a friend at work and I went out for lunch and had some teriyaki chicken and some gyoza. But we were pressed for time, and had to come back right away for a meeting that I didn't get to finish my food. Since after the meeting yesterday, and up to this morning, I still have the teriyaki and gyoza on mind! I've been distracted all morning. I can still even taste the gyoza!

I love when discussions take a surprising turn. Sometimes the things that occupy our minds are not bad things...unless that is if you miss out on a wonderful lunch
I have had many great things bouncing around in my head...it sometimes actually helps pass a repetitive day to think of things we enjoy or ponder future goals.
Thanks for the response.

Hi JeNin
Yes many a time this happened to me and sometimes still does but not so much now
I guess it is a way to try and sort things in my mind, it will stay in my Mind until it has been sorted out which sometimes can be a long time and sometimes a short time

The operation I have coming up. No, I don't want to talk about it. Just pray for me, OK? Think of me on Friday and hope for the best results.

I was obsessed with that motorcycle guy from your town for along time and that sure occupied my thoughts for many a month. For me mostly though it is my writing. My thoughts in organizing what I am going to say after I figure out what it is I want to say. Then I don't want to be bothered so I can concentrate and get it all written. Never stop loving it!

I'm glad he is out of there now. It's yough when you get something on your mind like that.
Writing can be a certain salvation of mine too. Writing has been a tool for my self expression for as long as I can remember. It can be a great relief. Thanks for sharing.

Of course, everyone has something in their mind to strike their goals.
I do have something in my mind too.
At this stage of my age, I am concerning my financial very much.
I am trying to earn and keep as much as possible to secure my future when I am old and the future of my children too.
I need a very good preparation so that I shall not regret later.
Let's strike the same goal.

Hi JenInTN,
Hope that all is well with you. Well, i guess that in this day and age, especially with prices of things we do constantly have money on our mind, wondering how much the next bill will be and how we are going to pay it, too many things here are on the rise. I not long ago read a discussion about how a person from america was disgusted at the high price increases they have recently suffered, but when i compared the prices that they pay compared to what we pay, we have to pay far far more than what his new increased prices are, so money is constantly on my mind, especially as i have so little of it. Also i am not in the best of health at the moment, i am soon going to see a dietician to see if any help can be done with my weight, i have 2 other problems that mean i have to see 2 different specialists, i work full time and i am s ingle parent so life is really chaotic at the moment when trying to deal with so many different things at once. I am seriously in need of a holiday, just need a break and to chill out and have some time to myself where i can relax, hopefully one day i will get some me time.

My goodness..it sounds like you to make some of that "me time." You are in chaotic times. I think that money is a huge burden on our shoulders. We are all worried about rising prices. I do hope that everything goes well with you. That will be on my mind
Keep us updated or we will worry.
Thanks for the response and take care.

Hey JenInTN,
The prices of things just rise and rise and rise, it is so very scary. I seriously do need some me time but getting that is not easy at all. I hope that things do go well when i see both specialists but i doubt it. I have some problems and i do fear the worst, i guess if i get good news then that makes life a little easier, but until then, i do worry. I do promise to keep you updated, thankyou so much for caring. xx

There is always "something on my mind", and usually many at the same time. I can get on a game online, and find that a couple hours have gone by, since I am thinking! Lucky for me, it hasn't made me late for somewhere or something else.

Oh...games are a great way to stop thinking about a ton of things at once..lol...I am like you and often think form one thing to another very quickly. I have to set myself a bedtime or it will be 12 before I am in bed...that's not so great at 4 am..
Thanks for responding.

Something just happened to me last week, something I'm not ready to share yet and I think it has greatly affected me in ways now because i find myself bothered at most idle times. My friend noticed this a while ago and asked me what was in my mind and all I could say was "I really don't know...just have been like this since the incident". I know I wasn't thinking about it at that time but I just felt empty inside. Anyway, I think it's trauma or something like that and I do hope it's only temporary.

I guess I'd have to say that it's a lot of different things and sometimes they take different forms from bothering me a great deal to not really bothering me at all depending on my mood. I guess I'm always carrying around something but it's only sometimes that it effects my mood and the people around me.

Yes each and every time something will be going in my mind, even if tried to stop those things i won't be able to stop. I don't know why it is so and what is that excatly. Some times while working, something will goes on in my mind. Unknowingly i will get those things in may mind. I am very much eager to know what it is and why it is going on my mind.

I think that our minds have the power to take us away from something that is repetitive in our daily lives. Sometimes a wandering mind can save us..lol..or drive us crazy one. Maybe it is an invention that will make you rich and famous running around in there...wish it for me too and maybe it will be so..
Thanks for responding.
