How do You React When You Get the Best Response

Hi Friends
The Best Response is the gift from the starter of the discussion which indicates that the discussion has successfully provided a solution to the starter.(At least this is what I think - If I am wrong, please let me know).
I have found that a few of our Mylot Community do make it a point to ensure that they respond back to the discussion once they get the Besr Response. I am picking that habit and yes, I am a follower... of good things.
I thought as in the real world, I say thanks to anyone who gifted me, I should treat MyLot Community as the same. Thank you Seniors and my Icons to show me this path .
Again, saying thanks is not only considered polite but also a welcome sign and in case you and the starter are not friends yet, I believe it is the right time to start th friendship.
Your Views Please.
Cheers,
theSids.

Hello Sidhu,
I have that good habit but at the same I have some exemptions too. If I am the only responder there then I feel bit bad to express my gratitude because the starter has no other option but to choose mine where I don’t think that my response was best. Secondly the starter give the BR too quick. I really wish the starter should wait at least for one week so that everybody gets an opportunity to respond. It will ensure that the BR will get the right person. If the good response is coming so late then we can’t do anything but waiting for one week is really possible. (According to guidelines one should wait for at least one week). I don’t know what is forcing the starter to pick the BR so quickly. The pity part is many seniors are following the same method. For me, I will take my own time to decide the Best so it may take long time.

Hi Sree didi
I can understand the situation where there is only on response as I too got a few where I was the only one around.
Of course there are a few Lotters who can give the BR qute quick but I think they are the newbies who are either unaware or quite impatient to test out everything... And on occasions, I think question like "How Do I Get XYZ Done..." tend to get the BRs quicker as they have just one or two answers...
I have quite many unresolved discussions and I think I would get them settled soon

Hi sreekala how are you?
Yes, we have to wait minimum 15 to 20 days to give best response, because we will be getting responses even after 2 months also. I got the response for my few discussions after 4 months. They may give good response but we should not get regret that we have already given best remark for another member.
Have a nice day kala.

hello dear sids,
I always say thanks of course.
It feels good receiving best response.
I also do the same, but not within the day (i mean, giving the BR mark)
It takes a month or more than before i gave/choose the BR mark
How's weekend dear?

Hi didi
I knew that you definitely would be one of those Great MyLotters who would respond back to every BR they will get - I saw that gesture from you when I selected your responses on a couple of discussions.
The weekend was great. The Cricket Finals went Indian way and the celebrations were on... And then K was with me too... A second day of togetherness already in this month

Hello Sid,
I comment back my thanks and wishes. It is very good to note that my response was best. I feel very happy and encouraged to be more active. Actually, everyone will feel the same.

Hi narendaran
Hey it is good to know that you have been doing this.... The lazy me always thinks I should be at it - even try out on many occasions but then it again takes over me
But yes, I think conveying back the thanks seems to be better for me

Hi thesids! I always thank the member that awards me a best response. I do feel like it is a matter of respect to do so. They have awarded me and I am honored to receive it.
I also try to respond to every person that posts on my discussions. I thank them for their time as well. It can be very time consuming to do so, but if I don't respond back, I don't feel like I am giving the members that have responded respect for having done so.

Hello friend,
I saw this discussion soon after you posted and I read it then and there but as I was feeling for a nap, though would come back later.
Well, I do not know how people in here react on receiving a 'Best Response' by the poster of a discussion, I feel not only happy but honored too. And a sort f recognition to my knack as a writer or participator in a discussion.
The feeling is extra special when you get a BR from people who you or all consider to be ones who do not easily credit a BR. And yes you feel more elated when your response is chosen from among more than 40 odd responses.
I have got such memorable BRs from fellow mylotters and they work as a stimuli to participate seriously.
know what? My response here on mylot are of different kinds at least three. Some are just so so, some are not so serious not so light either and some really serious which I can expect to get a BR.
And yes, it feels embarrassing when you get a BR where there is only one response and that is only of mine.
As a whole A BR is a honor and therefore one should be careful in selecting one so that the really deserving respondent does not get deprived.

Hi rajib
Ah the day time nap been a while that I had one in the day.
But yes, what you mention is exactly what I feel - a sense of pride and honor. Why? Because my response could help the starter find a solution to the discussion.
I cannot help but agree with whatever you have mentioned and I could not have said anything better.

Hello thesids,
I like to receive a BR, especially when I am not the first and unique responder, but I am not doing this. I noticed that I often do not get notifications of comments by friends, and I rarely check back a discussion after I gave a BR, except to comment a new response.
I was worried yesterday by the behavior of a friend who distributed many BR : I got 4 in the morning, and I sent a PM asking if this friend wanted to leave myLot ? I know that some members are canceling their account in a minute, but others are more organized and I had a doubt. I have been reassured : I was worrying for nothing.

Hi sid anna, I feel happy when i get Best response and say thanks to them. But i feel sometimes others response are also equally good and sometimes even more good than mine. I feel that best response mark should get to whom really worth it, should not show any partiality.
Have a good time anna.

Hi akka
i feel sometimes others response are also equally good and sometimes even more good than mine That is me at times when I too think there were others' responses that were better... But then itis the starters decision and so it is acceptable.
But impartiality - yes at times I did that and will continue to do that - I have a reason - There are a few MyLotters who rarely respond to my discussions and their responses are quite great. In such a case even if they may not be the most deserving ones (I have yet to find a situation to provide as an example here) - I think I might be biased because of the rare opportunity nothing else.

Hi,theSids!
I usually respond back if I get the BR as long as I see it.Sometimes if I don't check then I would miss it.I'm trying my utmost to avoid that from happening 'cause it just seems impolite to me.
I sometimes get a little bit lazy to mark the BR though.Sometimes I just want the discussions to run a little longer to see what happens.
Have a good day!

Hi babyanna
LAZY that does remind me that I have to send you a PM of my selection of movies and yes, I am happy to know that I have some company here at MyLot when it comes to Laziness
The guidelines of MyLot specify that we should wait for at least some 2 weeks before marking the BR but it is quite subjective. Today, normally I wait for 4 weeks before issuing out the BR on my discussions.

Hi thesids,
In my early membership upon receiving BR I always went back to the discussion and placed a thank you for the best response and my comments were always deleted. It was stated in my notification that thank you are not allowed.
So unless there is additional information to add outside of thank you myLot does not allow. I receive anywhere between 8 - 15 BR on average a day. So I have not been thanking a member unless I have additional information.
It is a nice feeling to get the BR and more so when I re-read my response beck to myself that I have to agree, gee that was well written. lol
I suppose if it is member of my friend list then I can send a PM and do so, if not then if it is only to say thank you then we are not suppose to and I had first hand experience.

OOPS! HWG....I guess I am truly LUCKY...and somehow have managed to "fly under the radar"....as I have always "thanked" those bestowing the "best response!" Is it possible, because I have added how it makes me feel..or how it has brightened my day...that I have gotten away with this "faux pas?" Now, I am hanging my head in embarassment...as I am one of those whom doesn't like to color outside the lines...LOL! Have made every effort to follow the guidelines....how did I miss that one? Time for a re-read and a re-program....now that I am feeling foolish, must say in my defense...ALL was done with the best of intentions! Maybe I should be "tuned-up" on a few more things, I could be out of line with! Drats!

Dear GF
Yes, unfortunately MyLot doesnt allow Thanks or Thank You posts and in a sense I do not like this particular rule. I accept all the rules but I think this rule is quite not positive... Wait I know why they dont allow it but still, I think if it is more than just the two words on the response, I see no reason why they should remove it.
And a bunch of 8-15 BRs a day Hmmm... I know my GF is best and I love your responses too

Simply saying Thank you for the br will get it deleted. In order to get away with it we should add more to it then simply saying thank you.
I got so paranoid in my early membership that I think I have the guidelines memorized. lol.. but still when I get a deletion I still check them. Sometimes things are in gray areas and it happens. With the amount of post discussions I purposely enter to help new members I usually know when mine responses will be deleted. But I still enter at times because I like to help. When I get deletions that I am surprised with then I recheck the guidelines. I also have those that tail me on purpose so I can imagine early on the Thank yous being reported. lol

hi thesids,
When I received my first Best Response i was surprised because i don't have an idea about BR then i am happy to received one but i found out why i received my BR because i am the only person who answered his topic but it's fine because i felt that I helped him.
The second BR i received was special because it came from a Veteran I even asked why me?do i deserve to have get the BR he just said yes because i read something that make my day better .

So that worked ... Ah, at last I have been successful on one of these jokes
Well, when I started out, I was hesitant and an incident at mylot had been the reason - I had put up some response but was quite having zero experience on that issue. The starter was all upset and angry on my childish response... and that was why I was a bit scared... Over the time I have kind of matured and happy that I do not end up posting such immature responses... at least they are quite better now.
Also I have some of those Vetrans as friends and philosopher guide thing and they are too humble and that makes them really special.

My mom would come down from heaven and slap me or worse give me that " You Know what you Should Do!" look if I didn't say thank you! I love saying thank you for the best response. It is a way to tell the person I got the email saying I was the Best response. With All my eamil accounts it could be easy to just disreagred it but then I would feel bad.
I feel anything from happy to surprised to shocked when I get the best response.I once got a best response for a sentence. One sentence! I'm glad my response has touched someone or helped.

Hi Bhai! That member Gets It! The best response doesn't Have to agree,it Just has to be the best! I have given the best response to a member who disagreed with my view.It was written so well,I could see his/her,I can't remember which, I could see their point of view.

Hi behen
Well, that makes MyLot what it is... One Sentence and even it can help or soothe
One instance I was shocked too to get the br as on that discussion, I was the only one who was against the opinion and there was quite an argument between me, the starter and another mylotter. But when the BR arrived, I was surprised and did revert back with the thanks and the question why I got that

Hi Anil
When someone starts a discussion, s/he gets responses and discussion continues. When the starter feels that s/he has found a solution for the discussion s/he may select the Best Response - Not necessarily the one that matches his/views but can also be from one of thoese disagreeing ones too.
Normally the guidelines say to wait for at least two weeks so that your discussion gets almost all the responses but still it is the prejudice of the Starter. That is all that I know - So it is kind of the Best Answer for the discussion as thought by the starter of the discussion.
You can know more from the guidelines here -

Saying thanks is always a great thing to do. I`ve gotten a few best responses in my previous discussions that I`ve replied to. I was definitely surprised and thankful. But it wasn`t like a big big deal, ya know? Well for me anyway. Unless mylot rewards you for best responses then I should probably do some kind of dance hehe.

Hi katrinapaz
Wow, that is another great thing that I can do too Once I win a BR I start rating positively... but dear, that I think would be biased and unfair. I rate all newbies and of course the great responses positive... But I appreciate your idea and maybe I can start thinking on that one
