once a preacher asked this question: "are you a catholic family or a family of catholics?"
years after i learned the real truth about it.
i guess we are all catholics to our chosen relationship, as AGs, Baptists, Adventists or Roman catholics... the latter is not the same with the former.
"catholic" is universal, while "roman catholics" are of that group belonging to believers of that religion...
Then again, i heard my fellow teacher said 1 time after learning of the persecutions happening between muslims and christians here. he said,
"buti na lang (roman)katoliko ako hindi christian..." (it's good that i am a roman catholic, not a christian)
now, it baffles me... are roman catholics not christians?

There are 100s of denominaitons in Christianity. None follow the teachings of Jesus. Most of them follow what the priest or St. Paul says.
From where the current day Bible came? How Bible contain 60 to 70 chapters as now? There were 100s and 100s of writings and books, a council assembled and they decided what books to be in Bible, not Jesus. Jesus Christ never taught about Cross. Now the entire Christianity is based on Cross.
Peace.

What rot! Many Christian denominations do not have priests.
The New Testament Cannon was largely long before the council to which you refer

Im also a catholic but priest don't follow the example of christ. Because if we are following the teachings of christ then why our priest insist the act of idolatry which is abomination against God. They even invented the concept of purgatory which is absent from old and new testament. They even taught us to pray the rosary which is not a teaching of christ. In other words they taught us purely inventions and they never taught the way of christians.

Those that follow Christ are Christians, those that follow the pope are papists, that still leaves the possibility that some Catholics may be Christians

Orthodox, Catholic (Roman if you want, though a non "Roman" catholic is schismatic for a -- Roman -- catholic) and Protestants are following the life and teachings of Jesus and are all Christians. You cannot be a Roman catholic and not a Christian.

Yes, Roman Catholics ARE Christians. They are the first believers in Christ, as Jesus Himself began some rituals that became part of the mass.
are you a catholic family or a family of catholics? To me, that means are the members of your household practicing to be good Christians, or are they merely a group of people who do their own thing.

Perhaps she is a member of the Old Catholic Church, who never accepted the heresy of papal infallibility
