Do you enjoy responding to discussions started by people who comment/respond to each and every response they receive to a topic they started... here at mylot?
Well, I do admit that I'm not one of them. I just run out of words when almost all responses are similar and there is nothing new to discuss about. But I really do enjoy and appreciate the effort taken by the starters responding to all responses they receive. That kind of attitude always encourages me to respond even when it is a resolved topic.
What do you think?
Is it against ethics to be not commenting to every response you receive or
Is it that - you need to develop a discussion out of it only if the topic(subject) demands a healthy debate?

I enjoy reading the responses and the comments by others too and i often land in a response box and add something more. That is the point of a discussion and as I am a chatterbox offline, it is easy to be a Lotterbox here
I comment to all of the responses that my own topics receive and then many of the responders come back and add something else too. When that happens I really enjoy those discussions more and I often spend a lot of time on one rather than moving onto to others. It is fun commincating when the other responders are online and keep coming back quickly to add more comments.

I am curious: are you like that offline too when you hold a conversation? Do you change your response or just say whatever comes to your mind at that moment?

uh... not really...
Offline, we generally talk only with people we know (friends) there is nothing like - talking to "strangers". Withing my friend circle I'm very talkative
Also, using my mother tongue makes some difference too.
On myLot once we write something down, it is for everyone to read.. - even people who reach here via search engines... - so we need to maintain some quality... :-)
Rethink and type doesn't mean I change my view, its about how I present it...
Nice question
I never expected such a query... :-)
and... I can't use more than three emotes ?????? :-O - When will that restriction be removed or is it like that to everyone?

In my case, I'm sort of slow thinker.. I spend lots of time thinking of what/how to respond... think again while typing, "backspace" type again "backspace" cntrl + A , DEL. Start over again.
So it takes a lot out of me to respond to all responses specially when there is nothing new to talk about.
You are right at another point... - when all users are online, the debate becomes quick that you almost feel like u are in a chat room... that definitely makes the experience special....

I don't start many but when I do I normally have lots to say. Although generally I always have a lot to say. I do enjoy commenting to each and every member who responds to my discussions. I suppose it depends on the type of discussions some start, as for me I usually do one that really interests me in getting a variety of opinions.
It is not against ethics to response t your responders, this is a discussion site, so not commenting back to members is almost like a question and answer site.
Usually when I start a discussion, I hurry to respond right away, because I find the topic is still fresh on my mind.
Members have been great responding to my discussion and further continue to add and or leave questions about the topic so it makes it easier to comment again.

Yes, it is all about the question you ask. When there is a lot more to ask and answer about, more are the chances for a healthy debate to happen.

Friend it depends on the response done by the person, i won't reply to the comment which are similar but i used to response to those who are little bit tricky and very trust worthy. Some times people do comments without knowing anything and they will type some thing else, i won't do response to those comments.

You are right about that... unworthy/careless responses do not deserve comments. Varying opinions or counter views definitely encourage me to carry on with the debate...

I actually enjoy commenting more when someone is willing to comment on each response as I can actually talk about the subject of interest and like you said you can either have a cause for a healthy debate .
Maybe we can find some common ground and if your like me and enjoy discussing my interests then I'm more open to the idea of a response throughout a discussion it only means I can discuss more which is what I enjoy most about this site .
Also I myself like to respond to others responses and look to if it's something I relate to so we can have a discussion with multiple users thus sharing plenty of ideas between us .

Exactly... it is so much more fun when it is about something we like or are passionate about...
But there are situations where, we just need a one word answer or a specific info...
Once we receive that info from a response, the rest becomes sort of meaningless... should we still make sure that we comment to the later responses also with a thanksgiving intend...?

If I know the topic and have knowledge on it, I do responding and commenting, I presumed that I might be of help if I can share my opinion on certain post that they started. When the topic is serious I also give serious comment and when the topic is something funny, I ride on to it.

Yep, debates and arguments always keeps us going here on myLot. When I get into good/healthy debates, it becomes a driving force for me to switch on my PC and sign in to myLot. It almost haunts me - thinking of what response I would've got for my views...

I dont mind if people dont leave me a response when I have commented on their discussion. If its more then a simple thank you then its cool to keep the conversation going but if they just write thanks for your response then it bugs me. I'd rather them not say anything at all then just write that as mylot does not consider that a quality post. When I create a discussion I try my best to respond back to everyone but if I cant come up with anything to say then I dont write anything rather then just write a simple thank you.

I also prefer to respond only if I have something different to say, there are many who consider this (not responding) as being ignored. But there are occasions where, we don't have nothing new to say but the effort taken by the poster really deserves a thanks giving reply. Its always a pleasure if we get a healthy conversation going within the topic.

Yes I really really enjoy responding to their comments because in the first place I can practice my English speaking. lol. and the second reason is, I can share my opinions ans thoughts to other people. I can voice out what I want to say.

yes.. MyLot really helps a lot in improving language.. as most of the active members use English as their primary/native language. It is of course human to be curious about what others think about our views....
