Why can't I sit in my pj's?

I was discussing this with some of my co-workers yesterday that I like going to work because I dress a bit nicer, look a bit girlie ect. But otherwise I don't put much effort for myself on my days off, especially the days I don't go anywhere for any reason. I mentioned otherwise if I"m not going anywhere I spend the day in my pj's or pj bottoms atleast. I'm not ashamed to say I stand at the bus stop in my pj bottoms in the morning topped with a 3/4 length winter coat. And the one lady told me about seeing the mayors wife one day in her pj's with her car stranded somewhere and she never lived it down. But you know I'm no public figure, who cares?!?! It's not like I go grocery shopping in them ect? Just in my house & the bus stop. And yes in warmer weather I'll put on normal clothes where I can't hide under my winter coat. But still if I have no where to go and it's still blustry outside I won't be in the yard showing off anything anyway so... I think I'll enjoy wearing my pj's til the weather improves.

Nothings wrong with being in your comfort zone. I wear lounge pants or pj bottoms often when I'm not going anywhere's to get dressed up for. In the summer months I find light weight cotton pants to be just comfortable. They are idea to work in when it gets extremely hot.

I have bought several leggings and soft knit pants, not so heavy as sweats. My weight went up quite a bit for a while, and these were on clearance for $2. I will wear them everywhere, and if I am cold I will sleep in them, though I usually wear a gown. Now in the summer I will throw a jumper or sun dress over my swim suit or a night gown and go do what I need to.

Exactly Gerty! I'm on the look out for leggings... seem to be hard to come across when you are my size. They clearanced them out at my work but only had a faux jean style instead of just plain jane black.

It's much easier to bend and do things of that nature in something comfy rather than jeans wich can sometimes be restricting in movement. And yes cotton does breath better when it's hot, though here it seems like winter does not want to give up w/o a fight.

Same here.. I don't get dressed until I have to. I do have to go out everyday, at least to pick up my son from school. I will throw on jeans when I go to pick him up from school.. but half the time I do not change my top. If I'm wearing a coat, nobody will see it, so who cares. There've been a couple times I've picked him up in my pj's.. but they were very plain pj's, like plain gray or something, so nobody could really tell they were pj's.

Exactly no biggie to toss on a pair of pants if you need to go out. And if something looks like regular clothes rather than pj's why not? Or something you wear that is comfy like pj's and use like pj's no one has to know you use them as pj's either.

Sometimes if I don't feel like throwing on jeans or whatever, I will throw on my gym clothes and will go out in them. Why not? I'm not trying to impress anyone.

In many areas gym cothes are fashionable so no biggie there. Now if they are tight fitting and say you were running outside in a jog bra or something then perhaps I'd think twice about it.

*LOL* I have to do that with one of my kids as she's awful about getting moving in the morning and it's one less thing for me to argue with her about in the morning. I would but I hate sleeping in jeans it's one thing I can't sleep in same with a bra.

I don't blame you. I would prefer wearing comfortable clothes at home. My husband says something about I always change to the loose comfy clothes as soon as I get home, I don't liek to wear dressy clothes at home because it is more comfortable right. So don't see why not. It is good for ourselves to dress up when we are out so to be decent but not when I'm at my own house. That's what I think.

Plus if you have nicer clothes like say for work. Why cause more wear and tear on them just so you look nice sitting on the couch and cleaning the house ect?

Another good point. And you are not going to wear your good clothes while eating something messy either that you know something will get slopped on it one way or anther.

I think there is nothing wrong with that at all!! I went to the store in my p.j.'s this morning don't care what anyone else thinks fro real!!! If we are not going anywhere special why dress up right? The store I went to this morning I see everyone go there in their p.j.'s and seen people even at Wal Mart in them L.O.L. I would do it and will do it because who cares what other people think? Right? I am who I am you are who you are.Enjoy your day in your p.j.'s I know I am. He he he he.

I'm not in them at the minute because I was supposed to take DS to school but he got sick 2x now. I still need to run to the store and get the one thing I forgot yesterday. But I can easily walk there but if he doesn't feel well I'm not going anywhere til hubby gets up... whenever that is. So to toss on my pj bottoms or not is the question ;0)
See now I have not gone to a store in them. As much public as I do is getting the mail and at the bus stop in them.

Well sorry to hear that you are sick and hope you feel better, maybe it would be more comfortable for you to wear them since you are not feeling well? Or whatever you want. Have a good day and I really hope you do get to feeling better.

That is totally normal. We all have our lazy days. Or "why put change out of pj`s if im just doing this or that." I`m the same way. I don`t really change unless I have to. Like going out with friends or something else important. I`ve even went grocery shopping with pjs. Well pj pants and a shirt. I don`t like the pj tops. Anyway do whatever feels comfortable, if you`re not breaking the law, who cares right? Oh, and I`d still be out in pjs or any type of home clothes even if it was summer lol. Very comfy.

If the top is tee-shirt like I don't mind it, but something formal and buttoned up looking no I wouldn't wear it either.

If it is just in your house or at the bus stop, why not. I like to be comfortable, myself. My dressier "professional" work clothes do not fit right now, as I gained a lot of weight. I am working my way back down though. I wear things that are comfortable, but they are also things I might go to the Y in. I am just not that motivated today, though.

Though now I'm not sure that I want to go in my pj's since the neighbor now has a child there. BUT you know alot of what she's wearing is stained so I'm not sure I'd be too embarassed bout the pj bottoms ;0)

if your coat covers it and you're only going out briefly,i don't see the big deal.
i don't wear pj's,but i have what i call "bum" clothes (as in,bumming around) when i don't have to be anywhere in particular.not dressing up just to pick up milk..

I have a few lounge outfits that i will wear on my days off. If i happen to need to go somewhere i will wear them out. People have remarked to me,"I love your pj's." Then i explain these are not my pj's. I do not sleep in them. They are my lounge outfit. Its my day off and im lounging. My pj's are pj's and my lounge outfits are just for lounging.

When my girl was still living, I would sometimes take her out while still wearing my pajamas. I'd toss on a robe or cardigan and hope not to bump into any neighbors. However, what I was wearing was usually reasonably okay--better than what some people wear out in public around here.
No pajamas when I go out, though. Pajamas are for the domestic sphere.

I am another of those people that practically lives in my pajamas. When I don't have anywhere to go, I really don't think that there is a point in getting dressed so I will sit around the house in my pajamas. I have a lot of very comfortable pajama pants that I would much rather wear than to put on jeans when I am not going to see anyone. Of course, when I am leaving the house, I will put on clothes that are presentable.

Being in your pajamas is the most confortable thing, so why not? We all need some off-mode days when we don't need to make an effort in our appeareances. I spend all the day in my pajamas when I don't have to go to work or to school, as I don't really see any meaning about changing clothes if I'm not even going out.
Enjoy your off days

I do dress up a lot if I am going somewhere I feel needs to be decked out for. I am all for casual clothing but I have to admit that I cannot go out in pj's
I do see what you are saying that it is covered under you coat. I normally out of habit get up each day and after my morning coffee and shower have to put on clothes, even if I am home. I have a great deal of jeans and sweats and I although not planning on going anywhere still feel more comfy wearing clothing instead of the pj's. Most days I have to run to the Post office to get my mail, I do this almost every other day and I have to drive there. I guess it is out of habit for me.

I'm not going anywhere special and it's winter still (though the calendar says otherwise) so if I can wear my coat over it I will. But I'm not going far either just to the mail box and bus stop.
I wish water wasn't an issue in my house but for now it is. So the less laundry I have to do the better. So as long as I have no where to go and I wash up I'm just fine. I'll get dressed when it's decent out and worthy of my efforts.

Sunggle you have small kids, hubby, work and a home to take care. I don't blame you for not dressing woman you are busy. lol.. It is lucky and wonder that you don't forget your coat. With so much going all the time you have to be comfortable. I did not even mention the loads and loads of laundry you do.

Oh you mean the 1-2 loads a day of wash I not only have to do but find homes for once it's done. I usually slack more than anything... it gets boring being home and the kids are big enough to do more than they do... if they do anything aside from school work.

my boss took us all out for lunch last month (there are about 14 of us) and we had this discussion actually too. his wife is a registered nurse but works from home for a provincially run call up service (it is supposed to save the Emergency rooms from being over run) anyways, since his wife can work in her pjs, we chatted about us coming to work in our pjs - he didnt exactly like the idea too much.

Hi. 3SnuggleBunnies. I am like you too. I don't get all dressed up when I am at home. I will wear a simple shirt and some lounging pants that are very comfortable. Two weeks ago, I bought me two pairs of lounging cotton pants that look like pj's. I plan to buy me at least two pairs every month until I have plenty of them too. I have not worn any outside yet, but I have seen girls and guys wear pj's outside. It seems as if this is some kind of fashion here. I plan to wear comfortable clothing as much as possible until it gets warmer. Now this is when I really will need something much more cooler then.

Well I work at home( that is not my house anyway) so I don't get dressed... I mean i cannot work with my pj's but I don't use nice clothes but when I aM off yes I use my pj's whole day and i don't care about what other people think. I just don't go out using then. I am a girl so I don't think it is good for me hahaha
anyway I font think it is bad at all! Use what you want when you want.

I'm the same way! I don't actually physically leave the house unless I have good clothes on and my hair is done. But if I'm just stayed at home, its pjs or sweats. I'll go outside in my pjs and do stuff around the house that way. I don't care if my neighbors see me like that!
