Montha ago i arrived home and my second son telling me that our cable was disconnected and, cable wires being removed for the reason that it's an illegal connection. wait here...illegal connection? i'm a subscriber for 10 years in that company...and accused me of having illegal connection I tried to control my anger, called up the cable company office and reported what happened. The man on the other line named Louie assured me that they're going to investigate the problem, and will send cableman to have our cable re-connected. So,the next morning here comes the cableman and seen what the previous cableman did (took all the wirings from house to posts connection around 200 meters from the main line) They took pictures and write down reports and let me sign on it. Okay, connection restored. Now,here's the case. The office was able to trace the cableman (employee) who took our cable wires and accused me of having illegal connection, and the company sued him. The cableman called me asking forgiveness and ....worst,offering me this bribe "free 3 months subscription" ...let the company give him proper/disciplinary action. If you were offered such bribe...would you accept it? Or you let the man suffers the consequences of his action? Have you experienced same situation her? What's your opinion dear mylotters? have a great day everyone

Hi sweetie. There's no way i will ever take a bribe, no matter what it is. Let him pay for what he has done. They should make a good example from, him. I despise people who bribe and take bribes.

hello saphy dear, I make sure that he will suffer the consequences. I don't want to be mean and i do understand that his family will also suffer once he will be fired, but, what's the assurance that he will changed from this misconduct ,unless give him the best lesson. Sometimes, people needs to realized their mistakes by hurting them and giving them proper action. Bribe is very common here in our country dear, that's why this guy is so arrogant and confident that he can bribe anyone.(shame) thanks for participating here and have a good day

Hi! The cableman did utterly inappropriate action and made you feel disgusted. If I were in your place, I would not have accepted the bribe and would have allowed disciplinary action to go against him. He did something uncalled for and he harassed you unnecessarily. Now, he should be ready to pay the penalty for his wrong doings. I would say there is no need to spare him.

Hi didi Well you did a right thing but somewhere I believe a bit too harsh for that guy as his entire career is now at stake. Good that you did not accept that offer (bribe) For the response, on the lighter side - well, I have never been offered any bribe and if it came from my cable opertaors then maybe I would go for it and also aske him to provide me a TV set where I can watch the telecast for 3 whole months. The last time I had a cable connection, it was connected to my ole PC via the TV Tuner card but one night there was some high voltage or anything and the whole thing including the PC got burnt out... and there was nothing that we could do. Did not have such good law enforcement here (not even today for many)

hello sids Your Tv and pc burnt out?...oh,so sad dear. Haven't you had voltage regulator at home,or fuse breaks,or circuit breaker? In that case, even if high voltage or sudden current come in,it won't burnt out any appliances. Here in my country, every house/building must/should have this at home, since power supply/voltage fluctuates esp when there is a black out, once the power comes in,the power voltage is higher than the usual current. I even use a voltage regulator separately for pc due to connections of printer and scanner. how's your health dear bhai?

Oh didi, it was not the voltage from the electricity department as the Computer was connected to a UPS. Their was some high charge that was transmitted via their cable that reached and destroyed the whole thing The appointment with the doctor is done but now the train tickets are not that easy to get as summer vacations are starting from about the end of this month... Have asked a travel agent to get me the reservations so that we can go for my checkups in the last week.

I would have definitely had a talk with the company as you did. Good that you called up to company and did not fall for this guy's talks. But something similar happened to us. My husband took the credit card of XYZ Bank after they called him a number of times telling him that it is a card without annual fees. The man who called from the bank itself told that it has no annual charges and convinced my husband to accept it. My husband clearly told them that he will not sign up for it if there were any charges whatsoever and the people who called for verification too confirmed that there would be no annual charges. But then, when the card came, there was a bill and in that it was clearly stated that we would have to pay Rs.7000/-(almost US $156) as annual fees. There began the dirty fight. My husband immediately called up the customer care and registered a complaint and those people told that they will get back to us. But in spite of repeated calls, they did not call back. And we sent a written complaint too. This went on for some months and we were very adamant that we will not pay the amount at all! It is too huge an amount to be taken lightly. And later it was found out that the mistake was on the part of the person who sold us the card and he did not know that the scheme had come to an end just before we signed up. And the bank held an enquiry and asked him to retain us or solve the problem. This guy came running to our house and begged my husband to withdraw his complaint and not make the matters worse because his job was at stake. He would have been given a very bad report and fired if it continued. But he gave us an offer to save his job and we had no choice but to take it as we were not ready to pay the fees too. The offer was that he would pay the annual fees and we will have to withdraw the complaint. And after some days, we would close the card and call up the bank and tell them that we will no longer use the card. He looked so pathetic that we did not want to trouble him more. He was a young chap and had recently joined the bank. We took pity on him and said yes. The complaint was closed and the chap payed the fees. Poor guy, I actually felt sorry for him. But we were in no position to pay the fees and it was not our fault too. So after a few months, we closed the card and were never bothered again. Sorry for the lengthy response, but it was something which was relevant to what you experienced and I wanted to share it.

sometimes we need to give them lessons (might be drastic action) they will never realized their mistakes unless they'd suffer. This case also takes for months dear (same like yours) I am thankful that one supervisor (in that company)is helping me with this case.

hello devijay, RS 7,000? Wow,that's too much. Is that another trick with credit cards? Okay,i might consider the guy in this picture since he really came personally to asks forgiveness and offered the trouble to be resolved (it's a fair bargain) But my case is not as good like yours my dear. The cableman at first even dared me to the every actions that i know, and told me that he can't be busted because he knows the bosses and that he worked for years in that company. So,i took his dare...now he's asking me to withdraw...shame on him. I am not that mean, but he really pissed me off and the shame he has given me for saying my connection is illegal. Thanks that you were able to solve the problem and the guy is much willing to have that bargain and also admit his fault. Thanks for the lengthy response and sharing your experience,at least this will also serve as lesson to other mylotters who might encounter same problem. have a great day always

The guy actually made a mistake and offered to pay the charges which we did take. I did feel bad taking it from him but we were not willing as well as not in a position to pay that much amount, so we did take it at last. And wanted to save that person his job. So, it is a lesson learnt. But that cable guy had gone overboard and he should not have behaved that way. What was he thinking? I seriously don't understand why he would do that. And yes, some people have big mouths and bigger feet. You made him eat his words and hats off to your courage. Shame on him indeed!

Hello Jaiho, How are you doing? I presume that your connection was restored in a week's time (maximum). Clearly, you were able to prove your point and company and employees have properly regretted for the inconvenience caused to you. It is also evident that the cableman has realized his fault seriously, and now his job is in trouble and he is begging your pardon. It is universal truth that to err is human. It is also seems true that cableman had no personal issues with you in the past and what he did was a mistake. You can look into the matter and can verify it that he, by mistake did that. If I were in your shoes, I would have exempted him after giving a last warning. I am not sure about the bribe, but one thing is clear that it is possible that a punishment or loss of job due to me will cause him good harm and he will further develop a habit of negligence in his work. If I will forgive him, there are chances that he will improve and become more serious towards his duties.

hello nishant, I might consider dumping my complaints and give him a good chance if he did not dare me pursue the case. I still have all the text messages he sent telling me that he can't be busted because he worked in that company for years and have good connections with big boss. Okay,i just give him dose of his own medicine... ....now the guts to asks and offered me such bribe eh? Let him suffer what he is asking for,i am just an obedient customer that he dared to take actions against him (well...what he did is really against the company policy) He never waits for me,he just pulled out the cable wires and accused me of having illegal connection (after 10 years with the company and never been a late payer huh?) I am not a mean person,i do understand that he will surely lost his job and might be blacklisted to other company as well. But he needs to know his mistakes, and proper action is the only way for him to realized it. thanks for sharing your views and have a great day

Actually, I did not notice the SMS which you wrote before. If this is the case, he surely needs some type of punishment to pull his ego down.

Hello my dear sister, Why he did the same? Where was his brain when he did wrong things? He should face the consequences and I don’t think I can pardon for a person who accused me as an illegal occupant of a cable connection. Let him face the punishment so that he won’t dare to do this thing to any other person.

hello dear sis, That's the real reason why i ignore his offer and even reported him again. I was thinking,if a simple employee could offer such bribe...how much those politician can do to buy justice/law (opsss...hahaha,why corruption is inserted here ) This is just a simple example how people think, they can buy or bribe everyone/everything.(so sad) Thanks for your response dear and good to see you here,i missed your topic..start one again

first most cablemans now are from other companies not directly connected to the cable company because most of them are subcontracted from engineering services companies.dont accept those illigal connections or you will only be sorry for that theres a law already against illegal connections

I have not experience something of this kind, sis. But there are lots of people working and not working with a cable company had offered me illegal connections. If I were in your position, i will tell the cableman that he's forgiven but will not take his offer of free 3 months. Yes he's forgiven, but the company will have to continue what their plans are for him.

He should definitely suffer the consequences of his actions. That is life or at least how life should be. And no i wouldn't have accepted the bribe just because 3 month isn't enough. lol, jk. Never happened to me personally though but it seems you handled the whole situation well.

hello danja, Yes,it's not because 3 months is not enough compensation (hahaha, you made me laugh here) What really pissed me off,is "accused of illegal connection" what a shame in the neighborhood eh. I never give any comment to the man who offers bribe, what i did is,i reported him again for offering me bribe. I am sure that would be an add-on to his case (ugh!) he never learns his lesson. thanks for your response and have a great day welcome to mylot

I would not take the offer, because the cable employee company has to know the consequences of their action or things like this will not stop and some fools who just believes everything will go trought and installs new cable.

hello meyrek, I was considering that too. If i had to withdraw the case and complaints, there is no assurance that this guy will change from being rude and having misconduct behaviour. So,its better to give him lesson, for him to know and realized his mistakes. Thanks for your response and have a good day always "welcome to mylot"
