Cannot Connect

There's this girl that I like. I don't know how to get close to her. I already tried reaching out by communicating with her through YM but her replies are too short and sometimes she doesn't reply. I want to have long conversations with her so that I could be close to her. Are there any other ways to be close to the girl I like?

Don't be offended with me but from the way the girl answers you and doesn't reply sometimes, she is not interested with you as her friend.
When a girl likes a guy, she will surely make a way that the two of them gets to talk a lot and for a long time. Take it from me, because in my younger years i do that. 
Perhaps you can find other friends who finds you interesting.

i agree with simplyd. sometimes, it is a subtle way of saying that "i'm not that interested in you". If you it's ok to assume that the girl is just busy if she has done this once or twice on you but if in case this has been done to you by her several times, this just mean she just don't want to be reached.
but if in case you would like to make sure, why don't you try reaching her through other medium? If the results are just the same, you know already what it means. She is not interested. You have the option to still pursue her without being annoying (which is hard to do) or look for somebody else who would reply when you try to connect. :)

Try to show a little interest in her in real life instead of over the computer. That is if you know her in real life? Also if she continues to answer you with short messages or don't even answer you at all I'm afraid you'll have to consider that she might not be as fond of you as you are of her. Anyway, good luck!

well i had the same experience before, actually i don't know how to make her like me, i tried many times but failed. then i just let her alone,however things get changed she call me after long time of disconnect , since then that is always she who bring about the conversation. i don't know why ,may be girls like cool boys,
in short you should step in close at the right time and occasion, that would be effective instead its just make she losing interesting. woman is woman the way you approach men is not gonna make sense on them.
