I currently have a rottweiler and am loving the time when i play with them. They always want to go inside the house but i don't let them beacuse they destroy things and most of all, they tend to poo there! I'm still learning how to train them, its just that i don't know where to start...any help would be great! =)

Hello KateQ and welcome to myLot! Your rottweiler wants to go inside only to be with you. Dogs love to be in the presence of their masters, you shouldn't keep her away from you. If you have a fenced yard where she can stay when you're not at home, it is great. You didn't tell us what's the age of your dog. If she's just a puppy, you have to have more patience but no matter how old she is, you'll manage to housebreak her. Here are a few advice: - Don't let her alone inside the house until she's fully housebroken; keep her inside when you're at home but even so, don't let her unattended inside or she will use any minute to destroy things or to poo there. - Dogs have a natural instinct of keeping their den clean. If you let her roam around the house, she won't associate it with her den. Don't allow her to roam around the whole house. Until she's fully housebroken, allow her to be inside only in one room. - Dogs usually do their duties in certain moments of the day: immediately after they wake up (even if they just took a nap), a few minutes after they ate or drink, after a play session. Use this information to take her outside when it's time to go pee&poo. - Don't just let her outside and assume that she did her duties by herself. Stay with her until she does her duties then congratulate her in a joyful manner. After that you can take her inside and allow her to walk around the house for few minutes. I hope this pieces of advice will help you. Good luck!

I have trouble with one of my dogs too. She only likes to make on the rug. She could be out for hours and then comes in and makes on the rug. It is frustrating and time consuming to always be watching her.

My husband and I stick their nose in it, well maybe not really in it but close enough firmly say no and put them outside. No treats for the rest of the day and no friendliness till maybe two or three hrs later.

From my experience dogs learn that by themselves. My dog ,an indian spitz, when he was a pup, used to poop inside the house.I didn't know how to train him and i was wondering how to teach him not to do that. But within a few days,to my surprise, he started running to backyard when he wanted to poop or pee.If the door is closed he goes to the door and make noise if he want to poop.Dogs are very good learners.

start by disciplining them while they're young..don't give them the opportunity to poop or pee inside your house, otherwise it will become a habit and they'll think it's ok..here's a website i'd like to share for you to learn more: www.a-love-of-rottweillers.com
