This was one of the craziest things...

I stopped by the store yesterday to grab a couple of items. I wasn't really paying attention to the cashier as I placed my items on the counter. But when I looked up, I saw her face and thought, "Boy, does she look like my cousin, Sonja." Then I looked at her name tag which read, "Sonja." I said, "Sonja, like my cousin Sonja?" We hadn't seen each other in years! like 11 years and it was cool to catch up! Ever been surprised like that before?

I was returning an article I'd purchased earlier to the Service Desk at Walmart, when I noticed the Attendants little finger nails. I mean, How could anyone not notice them, as they were painted a vibrant Sky-blue, while the rest of his fingernails were natural.
My wife and I agreed later that he was making a fashion statement!

I guess they were making a fashion statement.. not sure what that has to do with meeting someone you haven't seen in a long time - but it's interesting anyway! lol!

I hope so! We exchanged phone numbers and I told her to come by for coffee since she works here in town. I'll try to go to that store more often too since I know she works there.

It was really fun - and it made for a very interesting morning. I went right out and called my parents to tell them I'd seen her! They had talked to her on the phone not long ago but haven't seen her in a long time either. It's a shame since we all live here so close!

Wow! That was for sure a very pleasant surprise for you.. The many little coincidences in our lives are the most pleasant ones, indeed.
I wish I have the same little surprises from time to time but, not. I have not experienced that before. Maybe, because I am a person of little knowledge of my family tree and got a very bad memory when it comes to people I haven't seen for ages... Unless those people really left a mark in my hart and in my life before they left that when I see them again, I can recall who they are even without hinting a move from them first.

Wow how fun!
It must have been really fun and surprising. Eleven years so you two have a lot to catch up with and share. I have not been surprised at all like this but you never know it can happen someday.

I hope we can catch up- she was at work and I was on a tight time schedule so we really couldn't do much more than exchange phone numbers. I told her to come by for coffee some afternoon when she gets off--- hope she does.

I am sure this was a touching moment, and one you will be glad happened. It can be quite easy to loose track of family with busy lifestyles and such. I ran into one of my cousins last July that I had not seen in yrs. and now keeping in contact with her brother via Facebook as well. So it can be good to run into people you have not seen in ages for sure.

In 2002, I went over to New Zealand as my penpal was getting married & she had asked me to be her maid of honour...anyway, we went out one night as I had arranged to meet my now hubby's brother & sister for the first time...we went into a cafe & the waitress there was one of my friends from high school that I hadn't seen since she changed schools when we were in the 9th grade in 1991! I sooo couldn't believe it! We had a quick catch up & exchanged contact details but sadly have lost contact again - I can't even find her on facebook...none the less, it was great seeing her again!

Hi. macdingolinger. I did not go by my cousin's employee tag, but I did notice a cousin of mines that was working at a gas station store. I saw her and I was so happy to see her face. I have not seen her in about, seven years since the last time that I saw her at our aunt's house. I was very happy to see her. I hope that you will enjoy reuniting with your cousin, I am sure that you two have a lot of catching up to do in each others lives. Have the best of fun! Take care!

It was so funny because I had no idea that she was working up here in this area. I knew she lived in the state but didn't know she was actually working in the town where I live!

Yes, a few times. Actually recently something similar happened. I was having a rather bad day.. I was really busy and my husband asked me to run some errands for him, which I felt I didn't have time for so was upset I had to do it. I went into the hardware store to buy him some sandpaper. I'd been texting him about what kind he needed.. and was thinking of giving him a piece of my mind via text while I went up to the counter. So I'm standing there while the cashier is ringing me out and I'm staring down at my phone. The cashier gave me this big "Oh, hello.. how are you?" and I thought nothing of it.. just a friendly cashier, whatever. Finally I look up from my phone and the cashier is a friend of mine.

I really don't think she recognized me at first but after I spoke to her she did! She was always clumsy and even then she was busy chasing the cell phone she dropped so she could check me out!

That is very cool and I hope that now maybe you can stay in touch with each other. I actually met a cousin in an incident out in public. My cousin is 20+ years older then I am. My Father and her mother are 20 years apart in age and where never close because she lived far away by the time he was born and didn't move back east until he was 15. They just lost touch over the years and hadn't seen each other in 28 years at this point. Well She has a daughter as I said who is 20+ years older then I am. I went to Atlantic City a few years ago. I knew my family lived down there at one point but never having met them didn't even think about it. While in a casino a server came up to me and and said "Hey boss you dyed your hair!" then realized I wasn't his boss. OK I thought that was funny. Then it happened about four more times. I was a little curious who their boss was and then she ( I guess the people had said something to her) came over to me. It was like I was looking at an older version of my self! She introduced herself as did I. I did not know who she was but she had remembered when I was born and knew me by my maiden name. There she was my cousin, my doppelganger! We still talk a bit now, but it was surreal when it happened.

I know - and I am terrible at recognizing others - lots of people look really familiar but usually I just think they look like someone else - it's not usuall them! lol!

Yes it is so nice isn't? When I went back to my neighborhood I saw some people. In social networks too it's funny to see how those kid's faces are right now, there are people that change so much! Others don't change a bit and they are the adult version wich is weird, it's real fun.

Thats sounds like a wonderful surprised, i actually smiled reading this. I've had a couple surprises like this before, but nothing to the extreme. For instance I was at work I got this text from somebody that says "i see you" and all the while i'm worrying about that person who is looking at me lol, I found out who it was and it was to a great surprise that I was one of my close friends at I work with just messing around with me lol.

I actually thought you were to tell us it was a different Sonja. That's what would've been my case. I'm always mistaking people for someone I know. It's nice to chat with family you've lost contact with. Best Wishes!

good for you =) at least you get in touch with your cousin again. . better have a yearly reunion with your relatives.
i've experienced it once but it is when i saw one of my friend, not my relative. we had a great chat and catch up with our lives again. and now we are still continuing to call or text each other.
