How to get selling platform/GDS

Hi Friends, I have a question if any one can guide me here. I have worked with BPO (Call centre) for a reputed process-MakeMyTrp.com My job was to book the tickets for variouse airlines online for the customers who were calling to us. Now i am planning to become a travel agent and want to start this work from home.But i dont know how to get those GDI like AMADEUS,Galileo and Sabre ? How can i book a ticket from my home for all the airlines? I am not ware which softwares and technology i will have to use.We were using AMADEUS where i was working. And those guys were earning a lot by keeping their profit margin other than the actual ticket cost! And still the passengers were buying tickets like anything. Can plz anybody guide how can i become a private travel agent ? I will highly appreciate if anybody is from the similar background and can give me some basic information ab how to start this buiseness from the comfort of my home. Thanks :-)

You should approach the GDS directly. They will give you the terms and conditions for you to be able to use their program. Some might give you only access to their platform and some may give you a pc unit to start with. It would be a lot easier if you know someone from the GDS to act as your guarantor. That would speed up things. Anyways with regards to ticketing, I dunno if this is also how it it is in your country but before you can actually sell out tickets, you have to be a booking agent for 2 years first. During that time, you must find a travel agency that will ticket for you before you can do it yourself. Your production will be your basis when you can be granted rights to issue tickets. Also, for you to issue a ticket you must have a lot of money to buy bonds with the airlines... :D
