What would you do with expensive jewelry?

If money was no object and someone bought you an expensive piece of jewelry - let's say, the most expensive ring in the World, which to-date is valued at $16.26 million - Would you actually wear it and when not wearing it just leave it in the house, would you wear it but keep it in a safe when not wearing it, would you keep it in a bank vault and wear a cheap copy of it, would you sell it and bank or spend the money.
What would you do with a piece of jewelry of such value?

I am not too fashionable. I do not like jewelry. I guess I would rather sell it to make money. I will use the money to buy an item that I really love to have such as a good car, a house, good food and a shelter over my head.

No, don't just give it away to a friend. Your friend might just lose it. What is better to do is, pawn it for cash and then use the money to finance a worthwhile business project that will employ so many people. With that, you will be able to help not only one person, but a lot of people.

I would sell, invest and begin my animal institution and rescue for sure.
I also would study how to make a food brand that is right beside others that don't bring animal cruelty in it. Like people can choose a hamburguer full of suffering or our brand's vegan hamburguer with the same taste.

Yes dear, it would help our paw friends :)
Not that I would use all in it of course, hahaha, I would buy a pool and a home theater too, but it kills me know most of the world is still carnivorous even though we already know they suffer horrifying lives and the deaths are worse.
There's this vegan fast food called luving hut and I'm praying it to come near me but no one is making a product yet, that be right near the real meat. Cause I heard in Canada, US and UK there are fake meat that has the same taste and people are just being carnivorous because they don't care, if they wanted they could change a long time ago.
I don't go to restaurants in centuries and even became better in the kitchen, but I won't help killing animals :)
Cheers. Someone need to be their voice hehe.

Hi LeighB, if I were that fortunate receiving such a valuable ring surely I would like to wear it immediately and look in the mirror how decent I look to match with my attire. And take photos then.
Nowadays public security is not that good therefore I won't wear this expensive jewelry out unless I have insured this precious jewelry against theft and loss. If so I would like to wear it when attending lofty and grand occasion. It's always safer to keep it in the safe. I think I mostly will get the great amount of money by selling it and then do some investment to make fortune
Happy posting and have a niceday

Most people who have such expensive jewelry usually have safes in theirs homes and a good security system. I would wear such jewelry. Probably only when I had parties at my home or when I had guards with me or in a situation I was comfortable with. Why have a piece of jewelry like this and then not wear it? I would atleast have to have it wear it I could enjoy it or show it off to others.

A good point...why have it and not wear it. But the rich and famous very often never even wear theirs. The first thing they do is have a copy made an the real one kept in a bank vault as they wear their copies. My thinking is if that's the case why bother buying something that expensive inthe first place.

If money wasn't an issue- I think it may be fun to just up and give it to some random person on the street just "hey buddy, this rings worth millions.. Here you go!"
That, or grind it up into little bits and eat it in front of a bunch of people for shock value :D

Hi inertia,
I think a lot of people would be too afraid to wear such an expensive piece and would more than likely opt for selling and investing the money to better their life, especially if you are not a jewelry wearer. I think even if someone special and close to you gave you the gift, they would understand your decision and abide by it.

That's a tough question. It seems so mean to sell it after someone has been so gracious as to buy it for you. But that's what I'd really want to do: convert it into money. Because I never wear jewellery. Not even a watch. And I have little intrinsic interest in doing so. So I suppose the second best option would be to keep it in a bank vault.

Yes, the wearing of jewelry is a very personal taste, either you do or you don't. But when it has been bought as a gift it is very hard not to be seen wearing it at least once. When I was a school teacher, parents of the children I taught, would often buy me gold jewelry for Christmas as in their country it was seen as an investment.

I would wear it with nice clothes and be pretty. Put it at a safe place after I wear it.

I am not really into jewelries, but I would want to wear it but not flaunt it.:) But wearing such thing with high value, would probably make me so cautious that I have to check it from time to time that I'm still wearing it.

Hi there,
I know what you mean about being cautious, a ring of that value could easily slip of the finger if the fit wasn't good enough and also, being aware of who is around looking a little too interested in your ring.
I think I would wear it but I wouldn't flaunt it.

I'll never be caught wearing one much more flaunt it for security reasons.
Maybe I'll just take a picture of me wearing it as a souvenir.
I don't want to wear it in public because I don't want people to look at me because of the jewelry I am wearing. I also don't want to be the target of kidnappers. I don't want my life to be at stake all because of a jewelry.
I'd probably keep it in a safety deposit box and when the value of it goes around $30M maybe I can sell it to earn more.

A ring of that value opens the doors to all the wierdo's in te world, kidnappers, false friends, muggers, burglers, etc. If it is the only thing of value other people won't see it like that, they will see it as, if you have this value on your finger how much more do you have in the bank or at home. You are most probably wise to leave in a bank vault gaining value before selling it.

I'm not gonna wear it to flaunt it but I'm gonna wear it to remind me of the person who gave it to me. Definitely that person would be somebody special to me because he bought something so expensive. Sure it's not just a simple generosity, it was an act of love or something like that. So to appreciate what he did, I would wear it.
