I sleep for 4 hrs from night til morning most of the time. Sometimes, i get 6hrs. Is it ok or do my body need more rest. I feel ok but im just worried it might cause some illness or what. I just cant sleep early and my eyes will automatically wake up. I try to sleep longer but it just doesnt work. I do try to take naps in the afternoon. Maybe that helps

I read some study that claims if you get less than eight hrs of sleep, it puts your heart health in jeopardy. If you can't sleep more then maybe that is all you need. I kind of envy you! Sometimes I need more than eight hours.

Maybe you can try to have something that will calm you down a bit before you go to sleep. Do you go to bed a certain time every night? Make it a habit. I take calcium supplements because it is a natural muscle relaxer and works like a sleeping pill. There are some herbal teas available that help you to relax.

Also, if you are drinking caffeine it will affect your sleep. Lots of people I know have difficulty sleeping, but they drink coffee or caffeinated soda until they go to bed. If you are drinking caffeine, stop by dinner time, around 5-6 and see if that will help you sleep better.

I think it is better to have about 7 hours of sleep at night foran adult. I have interupted sleep every single night for my son so I sleep about 5 hours or less total but I still can function during the day, I don't think itis good for our body though.

To sleep 4 hrs a night is far from enough to maintain a good health;I read that the consequences of lack of sleep can be dramatic for a person's health, and I don't think an afternoon lap can compensate the lack of sleep.I always try to sleep for at least 6 hrs and so far I can do that, but if I had sleeping problems I would definitely go to a specialist and ask for assistance.

My answer is, IT DEPENDS! Does sleeping four hours happen frequently or seldom? If you frequently sleep for four hours a red flag is raised. Better seek a physician's advice. However, if you sleep four hours sometimes its not bad provided you have naps and short period rests.
Remember, that when we sleep, our body is at work. It repairs lost tissues and regenerates lost cells, thus requiring us to have at least 7-8 hours of sleep a day.

Some people are just wired like that. I know a very different people that have needed even less time than that! If you are really worried about it, you could go see a doctor. But if you feel rested during the day, you probably don't have a lot to worry about.

As long as it doesn't affect you in any way. I was going to bed at about 1:30 in the morning every night, sometimes 2am, getting up at 6:30. And I had been saying that's all I need. Well, in training at my new job, I dozed off for just about seconds. But the managers saw it. The next day, my manger took me aside and asked me if I have a problem. I said no. It happened a few times. And there were a few times where he thought I dozed off but I was just looking down at my desk. They really like me there, so they gave me another week to get my sales up but also, my manager wants me to see my doctor to make sure there's nothing wrong. But in the mean time, I've gotton to bed earlier and after eating breakfast, I'll take a 20 minute nap before leaving for work. The last three days, I couldn't doze off if I wanted to. But it's happened so much I don't think I could go and tell him it's not happening anymore. I just have to go to the doctor and come back and say my doctor said I need more sleep. So what I'm saying is, watch it. If it really doesn't affect you, you're fine.

Well, I do know that doctors do generally recommend that adults sleep about 8 hours a night. I know that's a recommendation. However, I think that sometimes it is difficult to do so. Plus, sometimes, some people don't need as much sleep. So, I think that so long as you can get as much sleep as you can, then sometimes that's just best.

4 hours sounds like a very short length of sleep. Adults usually have 6-8 hours of sleep. How do you feel when you wake up? Sometimes, what matters more is the quality of sleep over the length. If you feel energetic and can go about the day, I think that's all right. If you feel tired when waking up or if you tend to have inevitable naps during the day, it may be a sleep disorder and may require consult with a health professional.

I dont think sleeping for only 4 hours is good.It sounds bad because when you sleep your body repairs cells and skin.Six hours doesnt sound to bad but really it depends on your body if your napping during the day it sounds like you need more sleep.
Also not getting enough sleep makes you look older so watch out for that.

It is not healthy to sleep less than 8 hours because your brain needs rest and oxygen and it doesn't get that if you don't sleep. Your body will shut down on you when you need it the most. Try taking NyQuil or some sleeping pills that might help it terms of making you sleep.

Maybe your afternoon naps affects your sleeping habits that's why you can't get enough sleep at night. That 4 hrs sleep may not be good for your health in the future even if you're feeling ok as of the present. I read that 6 hrs is the average sleeping hours of adults so try to reach for it. Try to condition yourself too with your sleeping hours, sleep at the same time every night, it might help you get the habit.

Yeah, maybe its because I kept on staring the monitor thats why I dont easily get sleepy. Here is the thing, I dont lie on the bed unless Im sleepy. Maybe I could relax my head while lying on the bed at the right time to aim for that 6hrs. Wish me luck

Naps do help. Its known that a person needs atleast 7 hours of sleep. Actually i think its 8. The longer you sleep the longer your brain is in REM. REM refreshes your brain and does "brain repair". Try to get more sleep. Try buying and using meletonin.

That might not be healthy for you, as some magazine seriously describe it in their articles. It might cause age fast, and it also have some wrinkles all over your faces, etc...... I still have these sleepless night myself too, but it won't last long though. I usually would take a wake - up pill for the morning if I felt sleepy again. It contains caffeine on those pills.
